I was hoping somebody might be able to help me out with this mission. It was authored last year by CuteQA and it was originally a multi-player mission and I'm hoping to use it in an article I'm writing. It is an awesomely crafted mission - but I do have some questions about it:

1. Is this mission for 1.0.1 also? I downloaded the mission and am playing it in 1.0.1 but I don't know if it was converted or needed to be changed at all for 1.0.1. (?)

2. I'm having one problem in that I cannot refuel or rearm at the FARP Torba. I think it *might* be because some of the refueling or rearming facilities are damaged during the attack by the enemy forces coming up the valley perhaps? I had read elsewhere on the forum that re-arming and re-fueling are only available if certain ground units are on the FARP..and if those units are destroyed perhaps that is why the FARP is not able to be used for refueling/rearming (?)..

3. How do I take the music out of the mission after the supporting convoy attack gets triggered? The music is funny at first..but quickly drowns out the rest of the action..

I wrote a message to the author, but don't know if I'll hear back from him since he's not real active on the forum.

Here is a link to the Mission Briefing and the mission download. If someone can help me out to get the FARP working or confirm that the problem is the FARP damage, that would be a big help for me.

At the very least - try the mission because it is a LOT of fun. The reason I'm angling toward this mission is because it is a great demonstration of a mission requiring some good flying skills and maneuvering as well as thinking out the attack(s). The reason I need the FARP "Torba" working is that I was going to suggest to our readers that they could use 25% fuel initially so that the high altitude performance would be better for the first attack on the EW site. But alas, when I arrived at Torba it was under attack and when I landed no fuel was available.

Thanks a bunch!

1. I think some trigger's were changed from 1.0.1 -> 1.0.2.

Quite indeed a few from 1.0 -> 1.0.1 too.

2. Yes, there are certain units, there's a list here:

You will indeed need someone to edit the mission a bit to update it for 1.0.1 and higher.

Volunteers? :)

Well, so far the triggers actually seem to be functioning just fine. The first trigger is the destruction of the EW site. The second is the destruction of the forces laying siege to FARP "Torba". The third is the support column reaching within 5 minutes of an intersection or something (then some amusing music starts up too..which I'd probably like removed too..lol..). All 3 of those triggers worked. I haven't gotten past those first 3 "action" points yet..there is quite a bit more to the mission.

For reference, here is a screenshot I just took of FARP "Torba" after it has been beaten up a bit by the attackers. Like I said, I'm wondering if the FARP was functional before the attack, or if it was lacking the proper units for the 1.0.1. updated mission editor. I don't know..but I sure could use this FARP :D

"FARP command post for radio communications" is my best bet - it's a bunker, which resists attack a bit better. I've seen problems using the CP vehicles, it may not give you the ability to communicate with the FARP even though you're supposed to.

The mission file is included music files inside, you can edit and remove them by change the mission file extension to zip(if i remember correctly.) Also, this will decrease the mission file size dramatically which is good for multiplayer.

Don't ask me why i put the music at first place :P

Thanks CuteQA and Panzer..

One other question. Is it possible to selectively delete units within a group? Each time I try to delete one I end up deleting the whole group. I'd like to get your permission CuteQA to pare down the threat level in some of the groups because the readers that will be flying the mission (PC Pilot readers) are probably not going to be able to manage against such a formidable mission as it stands right now. Hehe..I'm struggling with it myself! You are certainly diabolical with some of the unit placements.

Anyway..is it possible to selectively delete units within a group? For example, I was hoping to reduce the tanks and IFVs in this group to something a bit more manageable for the novice user:

I love the mission design and the triggers and the concept..I just think the mission is going to be too difficult for the new users my articles are targeted toward. But I love the concept of the high altitude flight, the FARP under attack and the QRF coming down the road which you can stop by taking out the bridge. I just need the mission goal to be attainable by someone who is at the intermediate level of flying Black Shark.. :)

If you don't want me messing with your mission CuteQA..I totally understand and will find something more suitable. I just really enjoy the layout of yours!

Regards...

No, you can't delete a unit within a group - only the last one. But simply change unit #4 into what the last unit is - and delete the last one. You then have achieved the same as deleting #4.

Or change the harder units into something softer, like a 375 or CP-vehicle, UAZ ;)

Hmm.. Frustrating.. I still can't get FARP Torba to work as a refueling/rearming point. I've tried putting the required units there to make it so..but when I try to communicate with the FARP nobody answers. I'm on the Ground Freq and it works fine at the FARP where the mission originates.

Don't worry about it. Unfortunately it is just too much trouble. At first I was thinking that maybe I wasn't putting the right units on the FARP. So I deleted everything from the mission except for the FARP, put the units on and it worked fine. So then I got to suspecting that perhaps without the 2nd trigger zone being triggered I wouldn't be able to use the FARP now that I had fixed it with the right vehicles. So I got the trigger that advises you to rearm/refuel at the FARP you just defended in preparation for the quick reaction force to arrive. But when I land I get no comms with the FARP still, despite it being set exactly the same as I had it when I deleted all the other units.

So I give up. I've spent 3 days trying to figure it out but there doesn't appear to be a solution that I can figure out.. :) I'm such a dummy with the mission editor.. :(

Thanks for the advice anyway..

Holy Cow.. I just couldn't give up on this. I've been obsessing about it for the past 3 days now. So tonight I gave it a few more tries. I finally found out what needed to be changed to make the FARP active. You see, the valley leading to the FARP is protected from high or medium altitude ingress by SAM and AAA batteries lining the valley walls. The cannot depress enough to shoot you if you fly in low at the bottom of the valley (great mission design there...)

In the change log for 1.0.1 I finally noticed:

Note, an airbase (FARP) is considered captured if a ground unit of either coalition is present with 2000 m. from the center of the airbase (FARP). If ground units from both coalitions are present or appear within this area, the airbase (FARP) is considered contested and does not belong to either coalition until the fighting units of one of the coalitions are destroyed. In cases where the airbase (FARP) area includes the presence of unarmed units from one coalition and armed units from the other, the airbase (FARP) will be captured by the coalition with armed units.

Finally! I moved two enemy units that were within 2000 meters of the base and it allowed me to refuel and rearm. The reason it wasn't intuitive was that I was destroying all of the forces that were down at the bottom of the valley (ostensibly the forces that were trying to take the FARP) but that wasn't triggering the FARP to be active because there were still the AAA/SAM units (2 of them) that were up on the valley tops that were within 2000 meters of the FARP. The units aren't really there to be destroyed (they are in fact hidden quite deeply in the forest), so there was no reason to seek them out and kill them since they weren't integral to the completion of the mission. So all these days those are the units that have been screwing with the FARP operation. And here I was placing all kinds of ground units around the FARP trying to get it to work..

Haha.. Wow.. Thanks for all the help guys. Now CuteQA - if I could get your permission to modify the mission a bit to weaken it a bit for my article, that would be great.

Regards!

Feel free to edit/modify the mission, it is designed to share the love with the community. It will be better if someone can improve the mission since i have been flooded with works lately :(
