I've got it and I have posted my thoughts over at SimHq.

Here's my thioughts about it.

Well this will just be my impressions from a few hours use (been too busy trying to find an apprenticeship), I never owned a Cougar, but I did have one of the ancient gameport sticks from thrustmaster from way back when (never really used that to much since it broke after just three weeks, got a new one, same stuff happened, then bought gameport CH stuff, way back).

My last HOTAS config was a CH Fighterstick, Prothrottle and the pro pedals, compared to the CH stuff the HOTAS feels sturdier, the stick is slimmer, less of a bear paw is needed, however more musclepower is required (some might be a bit put off by that). I like the cool feel of the grip and the tension in the spring on the stick, the precision is remarkable in the stick, (Have only had time to fool around in the DCS: A-10C beta) it is easy to just trim the Hog and then with a centered stick theres no spikes or any kind of drift. The buttons on the stick is a chapter in itself, the tension needed for the trigger for example sets this stick apart, also the travel needed from the first stage trigger (PAC) to the second stage (Gun).

The throttle is a dream to operate, smooth as silk and very lean, also the weight on the base is enough to keep the base grounded when you lidt the throttles over the detents when starting the Hog. switches are sturdy and not to light on the touch (except for the pimky swith that is apparantly adjusted for the little finger. the microstick (Slew control) can be a bit touchy and will take some getting used to, but no worries, also the speedbrake control where the extension of the brakes is springloaded and the retraction isn't.

My only gripe is with T.A.R.G.E.T. that simply crashes in the GUI mode. but again I hope this is a WIP so that a new version will evolve soon.

Just my impressions and thoughts.

The stick is absolutely awesome. The throttle base is a work of military art. So.....meaty. The throttle handle is going to take some getting used to. After my "moulded to your hand" cougar throttle this is more.......industrial and absolutely bristling with controls. I’m playing with the throttles linked as its melting my brain trying to keep them even and i don’t need individual control unless there’s a fire right?

I wish the throttle handle was metal as well but vie not seen a real one so maybe this is 100% authentic. It’s got a very smooth action. None of the cougar-stickiness

I may be in love. Don’t tell my girlfriend ;)

One of the startup lists mentioned that the startup order, Left first followed by Right, was important for quite a few things like breaks and stuff. Not sure though.

The throttle grips, where all the buttons reside, was made from plastic?

Throttle Grips are plastic yes. everything else metal. strange i know. must be same on real A-10 i guess?

Wonder if anyone in the US got theirs yet...this product launch is an epic fail....I think they underestimated demand and got caught with their pants down.

Would you recommend that they instead hold off releasing it until they had the $$$ to disperse enough units to guarantee an even worldwide distribution? Would you do that if it were your company and product?

Really, from what I see, half the folks complaining about not being able to get a WH are also saying they are going to wait and see how the reviews come in.

It really is awesome. Couldn't go back to my Cougar now.

Been teaching myself to use independent throttles. It's fairly easy once you get used to it.

my inner OCD means i'm constantly worried that my throttles arent evenly set so spend ages twiddling. the torottle is taking some getting used to. so many controls and its not moulded to your hand like a viper throttle. you have to mould your hand to it! the microstick isna an issue for me. theres an ingame bug with exmpanded FOV in the TGP and slew rates so that will be fixed

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's a bit like man-handling a porcupine!

Not nearly as comfortable as the Cougar grip, but meaty and industrial :D

I tend to rock/wiggle each throttle by pushing and pulling each part of my left hand. Helps to even them out. To push the right throttle forward I push with my right thumb and pull with my pinky and 3rd finger. Visa versa for the other throttle. 'The wiggle' evens them out :)

Never thought of them not being even! I'm gonna be checking that a bit more in the future

Ordered my Warthog thursday (from/to Germany 357€ including shipping) and got it today, did a testflight.... awesome thing!!! :)

no need for the TARGET software, you can all config in DCS itselfs. (is preconfigured just plug and play!!)

I made some changes to the profile, cause i dont have a track IR and need a "view" hat.

I use the Trim Hat for viewing around, the Friction axis for zoom in/out and the CMS forward/aft i use for trim up/down.... CMS left/right for start/stop programm... cause you dont realy need to change the cms programm manualy if you fly on semi. so that is a good compromise.

btw i got HOTAS number 391 ;)

I just re-read my earlier post and there were loads of spelling mistakes. I was too excited to run spellchecker. That’s not happened in a few years!

Just finished first proper flight and am letting the metal on the throttle grips cool a bit.

Mavericks are soooooooooooooooooooo much easier with the proper controls. Even with the current WIP nature I scored 3 kills without breaking a sweat.

I need to map a zoom view to something as I couldn’t hit the Eiffel tower with the GAU right now, but that me not the stick.

The throttle, once you get start getting used to it is awesome and my Cougar throttle looks like an Atari controller next to it. I’m using cursors instead of the mini stick till ED brings out the next beta hopefully with the FOV/Slew bit fixed.

On my first “instant action” I got promoted! That’s a good omen.

My verdict so far.....if I had £330 in my hand right now and no hog, I would be on the Amazon site now instead of typing this.

<Viper> I thought you ordered when i did from Amazon. Yours en route?

Ooh that got to smart. Still, hindsight and all that. No one can predict the vagaries of the British postal system.

Just don’t think about it.

There’s no point torturing yourself.

Knowing that YOUR PRECIOUS box is sat there, with some hairy arsed bloke leaning on it, smoking a fag and reading the Daily Sport.

Who might or might not turn up for work on Monday.:music_whistling:

Heh, only kidding. You can shoot me down if we meet online for that, (you will anyway as I’m shite). You will easily spot me. It will be the one A-10 that looks like it’s being driven by Morgan Freeman off “driving Miss Daisy” ;)
