Delete waypoints / markpoints

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I want to know how I can delete waypoints or markpoints in the CDU.

For example I added some markpoints on a wrong position or the target "under" the markpoint is destroyed. Now I want to delete this markpoint.

Please can anybody explain step by step or add a .trk please?

You cannot delete a markpoint. They simply increment and roll over when you have expended them all.

Here is a track on how to create some mark points and then assign them to a new flight plan and load them in that flight plan as waypoints and then delete those waypoints and load them back in a few times.

Markpoints are just for quick reference or storage. If you want to really save them for later or be able to manipulate them create a flightplan and you can add them as waypoints. In the track i create a flightplan called TGT and then add mark A and B and then Delete A and then add it again etc.

When you reach Mark Z or so it will roll over back into Mark A and continue from there. So if you mark wrong, ajust your target and mark again to a new letter.

Mark Z is always located where you last fired a weapon. So its A-Y for proper mark points.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.

Can you delete markpoints?

Hi guys,

I am wondering if you can delete markpoints you created from the CDU? Spent the last hour trying to find this out in the manual with no success.

Say I created a markpoint on a target and destroyed the target, is there any point in keeping that markpoint still in the database or should I just ignore it and keep creating new ones. I am afraid it will become quite long to cycle between points once you have a couple targets marked.

cheers,

That only removes a waypoint from the flight plan, it does not delete it from the CDU database.

AFAIK you can't have markpoints in the FP, only waypoints.

You actually can input markpoints directly into the flightplan build page. Just enter the letter that corresponds to the desired mark and the CDU will recognize that you want to enter a markpoint. You can also spell it out, I believe they are saved as MRK A, MRK B etc.

You have memory for 2000 waypoints. Why erase?

They are database nav points, the only ones added by default are the airbases. You/the mission designer need to add any others manually, via the nav point/IP function in the mission editor.

At least that's how it is in DCS for now.
