This problem keeps coming up.

As jason_peters said in his thread

Ever since 1.02 ED has screwed-up the DxRenderer.dll

Does everyone get bad pop-up when fog is enabled in a mission???

I have managed to limit the pop-up in normal conditions (with a FPS hit) but still have the horrid pop-up when fog is on the ground

I have tried lots of cmbinations in the Graphics.cfg with the fog perm 1&2 and the object fog multiplier but with no joy

Has anyone got settings where this does not happen??? or do u all experiance the same?

ED MUST FIX THIS IN 1.11 ----- PLEASE

Here's a discussion on SimHQ about it with some settings to try.

I did find the same question in the over-big "Bug list" thread. Post #269 by 169th_DedCat but I don't seeing it being addressed.

Yes and no. Ground vehicles are much easier to spot from a distance now, they appear as a dark spec in the distance much earlier than before I find. It's almost too easy to spot them really. Static vehicles don't do this, you won't see a trace of them until you're much closer.

I have had a few people complaining about seeing through fog. I've created a bunker busting mission for the Su-25T with the lowest amount of fog present possible, and people complain that they cannot see the bunkers until they are literally right overtop of them. I was told I was using "unrealistic fog settings", when really they were set to the minimum thickness and density. As the host I can watch them from externals and see the bunkers much MUCH earlier than they can. Rather than fade in slowly from a distance they just seem to pop-up out of nowhere when you reach distance X. At first I thought this was a haze graphic setting issue, as Basic Haze does not do the fade-in effect, but as it turned out these people did have Advanced Haze enabled. Perhaps it is some sort of issue with being the client instead of the host.

I'd like to see this addressed; it really takes you out of the game.

I second this. And not only when there is fog. In 1.01 dxrenderer.dll all objects fade in when they are drawn - now only if they are drawn in the fade zone do they fade in - so due to the number of structures in the graphics cfg has a big impact on this

Once past that zone they pop-up AAggggghhhhh

This was not the case in 1.01 / 1.00

Please change it back

I definitely agree with the fog issue. Try a ZERO visibility carrier landing. The Kuz just appears out of absolutely nothing. There's no gradual fade in whatsoever- not even over a couple of seconds. Just PRESTO- instant carrier- no haze obscuring it. Along the same lines- sort of.. other airplanes.. there's like a "visibility blind spot"..You can see aircraft up close- at a moderate distance they disappear. Then they can be seen again further away.

This is because these thigns are made 'transparent' in the fog depending on their distance from you ... there's got to be a way to correct this.

lets hope so - cos currently u have to adjust the fog peram 1 to 15 or so to avoid the pop-up in non-fog conditions

GGTharos ---- would you be so kind to alert the devs to this issue and ensure its fixed in the patch / 1.2

Tell them to look at the dxrenderer.dll from 1.01 and then set fog peram1 to value 1.2 and fod peram2 to value1.1 ---- this fixes the issues with the dxrenderer 1.00 or 1.01 ---- but not 1.02 or 1.1

Shameless bump to ensure the pop-up issues are fixed this is for both in the fog an in normal conditions. Please fix the dxrenderer.dll as per 1.00 or 1.01

In 1.02 and 1.1 its horrid and it’s the one thing that make the game look ugly

Heres hoping its fixed in the patch.
