Hello,

I have erratic tracking with my Track IR 4. I use a standard cap and device...I have the latest Track IT 5 drivers installed and using WIn 7.

I use the default DCS: A-10C Warthog profile loaded with the latest Track IR 5 drivers...

Same thing for FC2 with FC2 default profile.

When I try to look down in the cockpit it becomes almost impossible to stay on a switch to see its description and sometimes tracking stops because off the field of view..(but I'm only trying to look at my knees in the cockpit for example)

But before the field of view was wider and I didn't have this erratic behaviour.

What should I do?

Please note also that my TrackIR4 fell last week and the plastic face is lightly damaged (crack on it), but it shouldn't affect tracking hopefully...

That crack will greatly affect tracking. It creates both a blocked area for the camera and also a point of diffraction.

As far as keeping things steady, adjust the deadzones for each axis (after you get the camera face replaced).

Hello,

I have this also with my TIR4. It helps a lot to put on your cap with an higher angle, so that the reflectors are looking slightly upwards and then reseting the view. In result, when you are looking downwards, the reflectors will be recognized better.

In addition, raising the smoothing in the TIR-Software will make the view more stable.

I would advise you go in your TrackIR software and confirm a few things.

First look in the window that shows your 3 green tracking dot's and confirm that they are roughly centered in that screen. If not, adjust.

Second, confirm that you are not getting any IR glint sources in your room behind you that the TrackIR camera is picking up. These are the source of many problems. Such sources are the Sun's reflection off of a picture frame, a fireplace, or other open heat source.

Third, consider moving your TrackIR camera to better capture your full range of motion. The relative positions of your cap and the camera should be near to the same plane.

Test your looking down tracking in the software after trying the things above and try to localize the problem. If you can not improve it, you might also try changing the Pitch axis to make it more responsive to a smaller input of your head.

Hope you work it out.
