DocSigma
For the most part I've been pretty happy with the performance I've gotten over the past year with my current build along with the current vid card that's in there now. Is it worth it to upgrade from my current 5850 at the moment? Im only running a single monitor, but will be adding a second to export just the MFD's to one monitor. I've been getting good performance with A10C at 1920x1200 with no complaints in terms of FPS. Thanks for any input. Unless you just feel like spending money. Upgrade only when you start to feel the need. Price/performance of hardware doesn't tend to increase over time. DocSigma
It looks like your system is similar to mine. How is your performance running 3x monitors at that resolution? If you don't mind me asking. RSharpe
Too choppy unless you're flying high and there are no other planes or units around. To actually fly a mission, I can only use one monitor right now.
DocSigma
Thats a bummer. Have you ever tried just running the one monitor and the two MFDs on a second? Since 5850's have come down in price since the release of thte HD6x series I may just try and pick up a second one and run in cxfire for the added 1gig of vid memory. I've exported one MFCD to my left and another to my right of my main monitor. IT was ok, but I found it was just as easy to use TIR and the MFCDs in the virtual cockpit... I'm not happy with this 5850 at all. There's no way I'm picking up another one to Crossfire it. I'm going to wait to see how the 6990 is or the 590. If those dual cards aren't satisfactory, I'll just pick up a couple of 6950/6970 and use the 5850 in my HTPC.
