hog_driver111th
Hey ED, or anyone that knows... is there a way to set in a config file or something, the radio presets so they are already programmed at each start of a flight? Using TARS I have a few freqs set in an SOP, but having to reset them everytime I start is a bit of a pain. Snoopy
Agree, that would be nice to set up in the mission editor when creating/modding a mission! v303d Fighter Group Discord | Virtual 303d Fighter Group Website | v303rd Fighter Group Twitter
Druid_
According to Wags we should be able to preset the freq's when using PREPARE MISSION in the ME. I tried but on exit it kept crashing. Will wait and see if beta6 works. i7-7700K : 16Gb DDR4 2800 Mhz : Asus Mobo : 2TB HDD : Intel 520 SSD 240gb : RTX 2080ti: Win10 64pro : Dx10 : TrackiR4 : TM Warthog : ASUS ROG SWIFT PG348Q
Eddie
This can be done when making a mission in the editor. Use the prepare mission option from the menus, when you enter the pit set any radio presets, weapon profiles and the like you want and then exit. These will now be loaded into any A-10C on mission start. Unfortunately there is no way (that I know of at least) to amend an .lua file for the default freq presets. I know nothing of lua editing and the like, but: Preparing the mission and setting up presets means that information is stored somewhere in the mission. Shouldn't it be possible for someone who knows this stuff to write a program (like the CMS setup utility floating around in this forum) that would ADD written presets to a mission externally? That would mean you create a mission, save it and then copy your presets from a .txt into the mission file by eans of that program.

Why when quite simply you hit PREPARE MISSION, jump in the cockpit, preload all of the frequencies into ALL of the radios then exit. All of these preset freq's could be shown in the mission brief. Couldn't be simpler. i7-7700K : 16Gb DDR4 2800 Mhz : Asus Mobo : 2TB HDD : Intel 520 SSD 240gb : RTX 2080ti: Win10 64pro : Dx10 : TrackiR4 : TM Warthog : ASUS ROG SWIFT PG348Q
hog_driver111th
Thanks for the replies guys... but will that work for MP missions and the like? Suppose a few of us on TS3 join a server with a mission running without the presets in the mission... and we want to use our own preset comms as per our SOPs. Will doing that work or... hence my reason for asking for an external way to do it. Druid_
Don't know, MP comms is something thats been given some love and attention in beta6, so wait and see is all I can say. i7-7700K : 16Gb DDR4 2800 Mhz : Asus Mobo : 2TB HDD : Intel 520 SSD 240gb : RTX 2080ti: Win10 64pro : Dx10 : TrackiR4 : TM Warthog : ASUS ROG SWIFT PG348Q
hog_driver111th
I would think it should just be a matter of setting the presets in a config file somewhere... the part of the MP that I was thinking about was due to setting the presets in the ME for a mission, but suppose someone wanted different presets, can they be edited... if I'm making sense. All of these preset freq's could be shown in the mission brief. Couldn't be simpler. Simple, yes. Quick, no. I just think that the time it takes to input the freqs in the pit (boot up the plane, setup the radios, bla bla bla) is a significant factor and furthermore has to be done for every mission you create. On the other hand, a small utility could do it in batches, copying presets to the last x missions you created. If a squadron has their own SOPs they use in all missions, the manual method is a lot of work. But I agree, let's see what comes this way in form of B6. Until then, happy preparing to all of us! Druid_
Simple, yes, but you forget the time it takes! I just think that the time it takes to input the freqs in the pit (boot up the plane, setup the radios, bla bla bla) is a significant factor and furthermore has to be done for every mission you create. When mission testing you will have to do this anyway. If a squadron has their own SOPs they use in all missions, the manual method is a lot of work. What SOPs would this be. I have never been a member of a Sqn, well not an online one anyway so would be interested to know. IRL the only SOP freq we ever had was a Sqn discrete Air to Air freq, all other preset freq's were home base, a common low-level frequency, some range freq's and that was about it if I remember rightly (its been a while). i7-7700K : 16Gb DDR4 2800 Mhz : Asus Mobo : 2TB HDD : Intel 520 SSD 240gb : RTX 2080ti: Win10 64pro : Dx10 : TrackiR4 : TM Warthog : ASUS ROG SWIFT PG348Q
hog_driver111th
True, that radio presets are typically for Sqn A2A, but for a virtual squadron with many pilots, it would be good to have it set in the UHF or FM already with some frequencies where if you are part of a certain flight, you can simply say "press 4" and change to preset 4 without having to say the frequecy... as it's already in your jet. Slayer
With TARS you have an emergency freq.that you can talk to downed pilots on so it's good to know so we can preset to that. Back when I was in ATC pilots were only allowed to use channels in the local area around their own base. Each base had it's own channel freqs. That being said it would be nice to have a template you can make in the ME so that everything like loadouts and presets can be re-used. shawnyp420
Hi Folks - This feature isn't working for me. After I set my radios I hit ESC --> QUIT and then I get what seems to be a crash. The ME loads back up...am I doing something wrong? Playing the 1.0 release btw.
