CarneyUK
Just wondering if anybody has tried the new 266.58 NVidia drivers. I currently have the 260.99 drivers and am looking at installing the new ones. Just wondered if anybody else has tried them and had any problems? egorter
No problems to report here.. having said that when I used those drivers with my older video cards (nvidia 8600gtsx2 sli) I did have some issues with the driver crashing. Since I upgraded to one 470gts all has been fine. CarneyUK
Forgot to add, I am using the GTX260, so technically an older card. May give it a try anyways.......on Monday. @ Mower, I am trying not to encourage Sod's Law!! I have this weekend booked for DCSW and knowing my luck the drivers will crash the PC, I will spend all weekend trying to get the PC sorted again and miss many training hours on DCSW........ "The sky is not the limit.....it's my playground!!" @paraglidecass
71st_Mastiff
yes there workoiing fine. but if you play BFBC2 it has a stuter in it. other than that works great. if your running USB diplays make sure you update your displaylink drivers. from dsiplaylink.com Edited February 12, 2011 by Mastiff " any failure you meet, is never a defeat; merely a set up for a greater come back, " W Forbes "Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts," Winston Churchill " He who never changes his mind, never changes anything," MSI z690 MPG DDR4 || i9-14900k|| ddr4-64gb PC3200 || MSI RTX 4080S|Game1300w|Win11| |turtle beach elite pro 5.1|| ViRpiL,T50cm2||MFG Crosswinds|| VT50CM-plus rotor Throttle || G10 RGB EVGA Keyboard/MouseLogitech || PiMax Crystal VR || 32 Asus||
CarneyUK
Went for the new drivers in the end, no problems so far and mot sure if it's just me but Win 7 64bit seems to be running better. I downloaded the drivers and it now gives you the option of a clean install of NVidia drivers so did that. May have cleaned out some old driver updates or something, not sure!! RedX
Currently no problems with 266.58 so far. Earlier I had a problem with any driver > 196.21: I got BSOD every time exiting a game with newer drivers... turned out to be Symantec antivirus running out of kernel space. Now antivirus problems are fixed and new drivers work just fine. FPS I haven't measured/compared to the old ones. bumfire
Update. Since having these drivers, my monitor would shutdown when watching videos in media player classic, once it shutdown it wouldnt come back on and I would have to reboot. Couldnt figure out what the cause was, but it continued to do it, I tried a few things, all failed, lastly i reinstalled the previous drivers and bingo the monitor stopped shutting down. Conclusion, I think the drivers were either making the gpu overheat without making the fan kick in properly ( keeping fan in 40% idle mode ) when in lo 3d mode, and also 3d gaming mode, the gpu overheated and shut down only in lo 3d mode, as I noticed the temps in arma and did an emergency shutdown before the gpu cut out.. I noticed when I played arma that my gpu was at 107oC, the HIGHEST I have ever seen my gpu, normally it would never go higher than 84oC. I changed driver and everything back to normal. So for those using the new drivers I would watch your temps in lo 3d mode and in 3d gaming mode as I am positive the drivers nearly killed my card. Rusty_M
my monitor shuts down/goes black for seconds at a time randomly. I blame it on the bag I got my DVI cable in. When it first went near the socket on the monitor there was a visible and audible static spark. If it had gone through a human you'd have really felt it! The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine! http://www.twitch.tv/rusty_the_robot https://www.youtube.com/user/RustyRobotGaming

bumfire
enable Antialiasing if that doesnt work, then next to AA setting, pick the Override any application setting option and then below that add your AA amount, that should work in any game. But usually you should just leave the AA setting at Application Controlled and then set the AA amount ingame in the options menu, if the game has such a setting that is, if whatever game hasnt got that option, then you do what I suggested above, select override any application setting and then set AA to 4x or 8x etc. Also, force on Vysnc, dont leave it to the application setting, force that baby on. here is my setting, although I havent downloaded A10 yet, so I do not know if it has an AA option ingame, all the other sims from Ed dont, so if thats still the case with A10, then you will need to use override for you to get rid of the jaggies. Panzertard
Investigating stutter (drops from 200+ fps to 5) with 266.58 and wing-vapor trails. :( If anyone experienced similar issues in Ka-50 or FC2 give me a heads up.
