Squid
. EtherealN
If by "effects" you mean sound: yes. If by "effects" you mean the graphics: yes, if you work at Eagle Dynamics as a graphics programmer. ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester

Squid
No, i mean ofcourse the visual effects, and there has been a big discussion and complains issue about the A-10 Gunfire effects in FC2 (eg http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=51698) (and apparently they have taken it into acount and A-10C implements proper graphics effects in this field) so i have been wondering, since various people of different levels of in-depth knowledge in the workings of FC2 graphics participated in those disucssions and they release from time to time various graphics mods , i thought to ask if maybe its possible in case it is and nobody tried it yet , or in case that someone did it and released such a fix/mod. ;) Edited April 1, 2011 by Squid . i7 880 | HD 7870 | 8 Gb DDR3 1600 | ECS P55H-A | OCZ Vertex 2 180 | Intel 330 180 | WD 500 AAKS | 2x WD 2T Green | Enermax Liberty 620 | CH Combatstick & Throttle | TrackIR 3 | HP ZR24W | Windows 7 x64
Buzpilot
It's kind of strange, in FC2 the cannon effects look like night effects during daytime, but in DCS;A-10C there is no night effects at all, only lights up the nose a bit, but no tracer effects. i5 4670 - Sabertooth Z87- GTX Titan - Dell U3011 30" - 2x8GB RAM 1800 - Samsung 840 EVO 512GB SSD - Warthog HOTAS - CH Pro pedals - TrackIR5 - Win7 64bit EVERYTHING IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE
Squid
okay ....... LOL it seems ED is dedicated to never complete the A-10 gunfire works :P one more to the various reasons why i am not comfortable (anyways) to spend 60 for it. S77th-konkussion
or- it could be that the tracers are not used in the GAU- and are therefore not realistic? Squid
but they can be used in RL in occasions, can't they? Therefore and since its a game (sorry, a simulator) and one of the main reasons we "fly" it is to have FUN, tracers can just fit in the middle : they CAN be loaded in RL, and they are used in simulation for the fun aspect of a simulator sake ... :) Or, even better, give the user the choice and suggestions what rounds to load ;) The discussion repeats itself LOL :P Edited April 1, 2011 by Squid . i7 880 | HD 7870 | 8 Gb DDR3 1600 | ECS P55H-A | OCZ Vertex 2 180 | Intel 330 180 | WD 500 AAKS | 2x WD 2T Green | Enermax Liberty 620 | CH Combatstick & Throttle | TrackIR 3 | HP ZR24W | Windows 7 x64
GGTharos
A-10's do not use tracer ammo in operational combat loads AFAIK. They might be used on TP ammo. And no, they won't give you tracers just so you can have fun if the real deal doesn't use'em ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
EtherealN
Tracers are an aiming aid. Why would you use tracers when you have a targeting computer giving you CCIP? All the tracers would do is tell the enemy "this is where I am, aim your AAA accordingly". Squid
the real deal does use them though in certain cases ;) thats enough reason to give us the option. eg The real deal doesn't fracticide either but sim gives you the option to do it ;) where the A-10 is when firing avenger at night estimated by the tracers is not of much operational value propably as in the next second is far away from there ;) Not to mention the nozzle flash no matter how restricted ;) ED uses "tracers" in A-10C during day ;) Edited April 1, 2011 by Squid . i7 880 | HD 7870 | 8 Gb DDR3 1600 | ECS P55H-A | OCZ Vertex 2 180 | Intel 330 180 | WD 500 AAKS | 2x WD 2T Green | Enermax Liberty 620 | CH Combatstick & Throttle | TrackIR 3 | HP ZR24W | Windows 7 x64
EtherealN
Wha? When does the "real deal" use them? Where the A-10C by tracers is of tremendous value. I can only assume that you have never operated an AAA emplacement: tracers give you a direct line to follow from point of impact to point of origin. This might not be of "operational" value, since that's more of a strategic term, but it is of immense tactical value: it gives your AAA crews and everyone with a carbine a nice line to follow for "where to commit defensive fire". In an engagement that lasts a couple seconds, this can be the difference between just sitting there and unleasing 20 000 bullets. (Literally - there were cases in the Falklands where that is the amount of bullets released against attacking A-4's in a matter of seconds. One of those might not be much of a threat, but 20 000... it's a LOT of lead. And remember how pretty much none of the avionics is within the titanium tub?) Squid
my mistake. apologies. yday i checked for the first time videos of DCS A-10C and i thought i saw daytime tracers like in FC2 . Checked again a while ago, no tracers ofcourse. Personally i dont care if they exist or not in either DCS or FC2 , both options work with me. I wont ever blame ED for their degree of fidelity, i am sure they are keeping it high enough whatsoever for my potential and taste, 80% or 99% is ok with me. I am concerned though about it "feeling" real and cinematographic as much as possible :D To enrich furthermore my own trivia: Tracers existing in FC2 mean that they were produced & used by the "A" in previous times ? Really, i would like to see those impact effects transfered to FC2 (or the FC1 ones at least, its the same for me) . i7 880 | HD 7870 | 8 Gb DDR3 1600 | ECS P55H-A | OCZ Vertex 2 180 | Intel 330 180 | WD 500 AAKS | 2x WD 2T Green | Enermax Liberty 620 | CH Combatstick & Throttle | TrackIR 3 | HP ZR24W | Windows 7 x64
