Which A-10 Squadron has the Warthog nose art in game? :)

I'm trying to get my pilot to be in the squadron with the Warthog nose art in game. The manual lists the 184 and 188th Flying Razorbacks out of Fort Smith but I don't see them listed in logbook.

Is it possible to have the warthog art on your A-10? I swear one of the instant actions the plane had it before I created my pilot in the logbook and now I can't figure out which on it is in game!

A close second choice would be the Flying Tigers or Tiger Shark's shark mouth nose art but I don't see those listed either. :(

You can tell I have my priorities straight, can't you? :megalol:

All of the squadrons in the logbook that you can chose from are either active and deactivated F-15 squadrons or recently deactivated F-15 squadrons that now fly the F-22, or in the case of the 58th which trains and fly's the F-35, and the 59th which is a test squadron at Nellis AFB

You could edit the skin through photoshop but I know nothing of how to do that, sorry but if you know a little something this should give you a headstart: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/misc/a-10c_model_templates/

Is there a way to get a little Hoggish nose art on your AC in the game then?

Check the squadrons out of Moody AFB. Pope used to be the only sqadron(75th?) that was authorized the use of the nose art, but they were BRAC'd to Moody a few years back.

@Scout

Are you sure you didn't think you were posting in the LockOn forums? Your post about the F-15's does not make any sense.

Im not sure why it didnt make sense to you. I was just stating that the squadrons that you can choose from in your logbook in DCS A-10 are not A-10 squadrons.

Yep the 74th and 75th are the Flying Tigers and the Tiger Sharks respectively and they both sport the "shark maw".

One of the things I love about the A-10 is that they still use the WW2 Flying Tiger's shark maw nose art. :)

here's the 74th:

And the Razorback nose from the 184th:

(Hopefully these guys don't mind me using thier picture's to get a look at the planes behind them!)

The loading screen has a sharkmaw on the A-10's but I haven't seen one in game. I have flown a A-10 from the 184th (at least it had the sweet Razorback nose art) just once in a quick mission before I made a pilot logbook entry so just assumed you could create a pilot in that unit, but now that I'm there I don't see the 74th, 75th or 184th listed which are the units that use the above nose art...

That's what prompted me to post. I'm still doing training and learning the systems but wanted to have nose art on the bird if I could. Am I missing something obvious on how to always have your Hog sporting nose art?

Maybe it's only in the campain, but if so, does your pilot need to be in a certain unit?

Thanks for reading if you've gotten this far. I'm tired and I'm sure I'm not being clear. I just want the Warthog I'm in to have nose art if I can figure out how. Thanks! :pilotfly:

MMM...still not making sense

The 184th and 188th are guard A-10 squadrons.

Edit:

The 184th is a FS in the 188th Fighter Wing...my mistake. However, they are actively flying A-10's

Edit again :)

Now it makes sense. You are talking of logbook squadrons within DCS A-10.

We were on two totally different pages for a second. Now I got ya! :)

Forget everything I just posted!

The squadrons in the logbook. The dropdown list. Where you can pick from, for example, the 335th FS, which is a Seymour Johnson-based F-15E squadron.

Or the 94th, an ex-F-15C and now F-22 squadron based at Langley.

None of the squadrons in the logbook list are A-10 squadrons, as evidenced by comparing them to the choices of A-10 skins in the mission editor.

The paintwork on the aircraft is dependant on the skin chosen by the mission designer in the editor. You can also adjust the skin using the 'mission planner' which is basically the editor with most functions disabled. You do it on the panel where you select the weapons loadout you want for the mission. You can select the 184th from this list.

The skins have nothing whatsoever to do with which squadron your pilot "belongs to" in the log book.

I may be wrong on this...

I am not sure the logbook sqadron has an effect on the plane's art. Check the loadout in the mission editor before starting a mission. On the right side, you will have your choice of tail flashes to choose from. I now understand the logbooks are not correct, these however should be if the one you want is available.

edit:

Nomdeplume beat me to it. Thanks for explaining that.

Thanks guys, your right about which squadron your a part of doesn't change the skin on the aircraft. After posting this question I suspected that and kept cycling units and of course it had no effect. I guess I just assumed it would since everything else is so real to life in the sim.

Thanks for filling me in on how to get the skin I'm looking for. I guess I'm not deep enough into the sim to have seen that yet. :)
