element1108 Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Interesting article posted over at simhq; http://www.avsim.com/pages/0411/XPlane/10.html Sounds like they're making some interesting improvements with version 10. The cloud math section of that article is a nice way to showcase some of the complexities of doing such "basic" things as clouds in a sim. The full 3D world and removal of simple textures as scenary will be amazing for multi altitude flight I think.
element1108 Posted April 7, 2011 Author Posted April 7, 2011 Lol 1 view in 24 hours, nobody likes XPLANE here?? Heheh.
Steel Jaw Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Well have xp9 and the mainissue with it is the utter dearth of worthwhile hardcore add-ons, akin to PMDG, LDS. "You see, IronHand is my thing" My specs: W10 Pro, I5/11600K o/c to 4800 @1.32v, 64 GB 3200 XML RAM, ASUS RTX3060ti/8GB.
Shaman Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 lol, Mower, you had to said it again, and I must disagree with you again :) no, I am not X-plane zaelot. So what that PMDG is FSX exclusive. Element1108, search the forums :) 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
dotChuckles Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Have to agree with Mower here... Xplane is a brilliant simulation platform but sadly no great add-ons. Although I do hear Aerosoft have something in the works for it. But with FSX coming to the end of it's maturity cycle (IMHO) and MS:Flight still being some ways off if Xplane 10 makes it out... who knows? Maybe more developers will adopt it. Which would be good because the flight dynamics are great. Id love to see a PMDG 747/J41 or LDS in Xplane. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Shaman Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Time will tell. I do not have big hopes for X-plane 10. I like it due to my two great addons I have purchased. One is from ND&ART Tech and other from Carenado. I use it to practice navigation for my RL flying, X-plane feels better then FSX when it comes to training yourself for RL navigation. For most of the fun I prefer FSX, especially now with its exceptional addon from VRS team. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
sobek Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Well have xp9 and the mainissue with it is the utter dearth of worthwhile hardcore add-ons, akin to PMDG, LDS. Indeed, but it seems they have at least to some degree acknowledged that and are working with some 3rd party add on suppliers to have better stock content. Time will tell if that is going to be a success. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
ben1101 Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Well, I for one LOVE X-Plane!! I use it solely for helicopters and can't wait until X-Plane 10 comes out! IT does have a few issues here and there but overall to me it suits my needs much better than FSX where helis are too simple to fly. Some awesome Heli add ons, like Nil's BK117 and Conex' B206 3 not to forget Bretts amazing freeware Hughes 500D and there are still more to come.. i5 4690K, GTX1070, 24GB 1800mhz, HP WMR, Custom FFB helicopter controls.
Shaman Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Oh yes, BK 117 is my favorite addon for X-plane so far. Money well invested :) 1 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
BKLronin Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 (edited) I spend a lot of my time in X-Plane 9 including scenery creation. The Flight model feels just right in most cases. It takes pretty much time to get really into it with all the great community add ons but once you´re in it´s an awesome playground. I had a great time flying up the Inside Passage to the final frontier in a tecnam P92 with a lot of stops on tiny airports along the route. (Payware add on) They have improved the citys and airports in 10 that was the main disadvantage of XP9. There are thousands of user created airports so could almost cover the whole planet with them ut it´s alot of work to get them all installed. Really looking forward to XP10! RogueRunner Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 (edited) Austin is XP's biggest enemy. He changes too much to often for serious guys like PMDG to consider coding for it. Carenedo did do an aircraft for XP but they are not in the PMDG league at all. I do like XP and fly the BK117 and MU-2 but they way Austin blows his own horn and everyone else's is crap I do not appreciate. Still love it though and I think XP10 is going to be very very good! Cannot wait. shamandgg, Thanx, that BK117 and ships video is mine. I love that helicopter. Edited April 8, 2011 by RogueRunner With the price of ammunition these days do not expect a warning shot.
Shaman Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 I think I know what you mean, I noticed Austin has kinda piss-off attitude towards developers' requests (in case of helicopters) and other sim developers. It was same story with BK117. It has this problem when you transit from translational lift, looses altitude to wildly. Many versions forward Austin still says nothing is wrong with his physics. People who have no self-criticism are very hard to deal with. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
