Yet another loss :(

Just last Wednesday (April 20, 2011), another plane went down over Libya while conducting air patrol. I heard about today, from one of my friend's sisters. My friend, Sam Briggs, an Ace in the German Luftwaffe, had been flying most likely CAP over the no-fly zone when his MiG-29 was shot down by a Libyan SAM. He didn't survive. Sam was 23, a great friend, creative, always making jokes and lovin' his MiG-29 (That was what attracted him to Lock On).

Now that I see it in that way... I was pretty repulse to go flying again. Death is just a moment away...

May he rest in peace...

Maybe I need more coffee... but is this a joke? A Luftwaffe MiG-29 (all gone to Poland BTW) who was piloted by a Sam Briggs (sounds like a real Jermin name) flying a CAP over Libya got shot down? Like last week?

What movie is this?

No. Of course not. Unless his sister was lying, which I doubt. But now that you bring it up.. it does sound suspicious.

Perhaps he was flying a different aircraft. I assumed it would be a MiG-29, but I didn't do my homework, of course :(.

Here was the exact email (Please, do refrain from spreading it.)

don't know who made the joke but it was in dubious taste

I agree. Whomever did such a thing should be dragged out into the street, tarred, and feathered. It's certainly no joking matter when an aviator goes down. Especially to him/her.

It's not the fall that gets you. It's the Godawful sudden stop at the end.

Thanks. I'm just really steamed now that I know that this was a big mess that was to trick me, and I bloated it. But thanks everyone, to make the clarifications. It means alot.
