Teriander
Im not sure what I did to cause this, but I can't get the Elevation for my Steerpoint to display. Right now it says 24m/DTS. I know 24m is for 24 miles (or NM) but I dont know what the DTS is for, usually it shows the elevation for the steerpoint. In my CDU it says correctly 18000, for 18000ft, but I can't get it to show in my HUD. What do I need to do?
Insanatrix
DTS means that it's drawing elevation data from the Nav System. You would normally use your CDU for finding the elevation of the waypoint.
Teriander
Thanks, but how do I get it to show from my CDU instead of my NAV system?
Insanatrix
I'm not sure if there is a way to get WP elevation to show on the HUD, if there is it would be somewhere in the IFFCC menu. You always want it to be drawing elevation data from DTS because that gives elevation data to your weapon systems as well.
Frederf
The display is for the "hot elevation" which may or may not default to some waypoint elevation. It is not a readout of waypoint elevation normally. "Hot elevation" which is a manual altitude setting as an alternative to DTS. Read a waypoint elevation by selecting the appropriate waypoint from your waypoint CDU page.
sunshine_db
On the up front controller, push the select rocker, or data rocker, or both. i cant remember what way, just mash them until it changes. It will change it to manual elevation selection. BUT be aware. its more complicated than you might think. The Gun reticule is using whatever elevation you set in there, so if you attempt to attack something at another elevation, you gun reticule with be wrong! Its best to leave it set as DTS (which constantly uses the correct elevation for the position the gun is aiming at). And use the CDU to tell you the waypoint's elevation. Quickest way is probably to flick PAGE KNOB to STEER and select Waypoint with the appropriate LSK. This will give you all the info you need on your current Steer point. I hope that all came out alright, it made sense in my head.
