JTAC Communications?

Hi,

2 point questions...

I have searched the big 700 page Training Manual for how to use and incorporate the communications jargon of the JTAC guy, forward observer.

Where do I find this information?

And I have read about the radio in cockpit for this purpose. It seems the radio is not actually used, but the backward slash and F-key commands suffice to that end.

Is the radio actually ever used? I do run in full sim mode, but I also use radio gaming shortcuts check-off boxes as to easy radio communications.

"In the weeds" mission, it took me awhile to realize the blue tank on the F10 map was actually JTAC sitting in a jeep, on top of a ridge.

I suggest you try one of the many JTAC training missions available, as well as search for the many informative threads on getting the "9-line" and "talk on" from JTAC.

I have not tried the easy radio communications option but the radios are not really that difficult to use. Warrior has published an excellent guide, to which you can find a link in the sig of any of his hundreds of equally helpful posts here. In most mission I use all three radios extensively, so IMHO they are well worth learning to use and use well.

I also use radio's extensively Erich. It makes life so much easier if you learn to use them properly and they are so easy to use. I can show you on teamspeak if you need.

The JTAC language is a shorthand way of getting information across succinctly.

Thank you for both replies.

I do use the radios online. Some servers only operate in fullest SIM mode, no shortcuts allowed.

(I will edit this later as to the radio settings I am referring to, by page number.)

At a later time, I will gladly take you up on your offer via Teamspeak.
