thbrix
Hi Considering buying the Thrustmaster Warthog, but do i also need a set of rudders. I know that would be optimal, but is there any usable solutions without rudders?
-odin-
Yes, you could use the Friction axis on the throttle unit. It is not used by default in DCS Warthog. To not confuse you, there are two Friction controls on the unit. One which act as an axis and has no physical effect on the unit. And one who does affect the friction, but is not located where it is in real life, and thus is not visible in throttle quadrant in the cockpit. I can post a picture if this is hard to understand :-) ОДИН [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Lacanian
@Succellus - How do you find the saitek pro combat rudder? I am looking at rudder pedals to purchase as well. Death and destruction! Oooh Rah! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
MustangSally
Lacanian, Could I just add that i purchased the Combat pedals only a few days ago. Advice from a gent here on the forum advised me to add a Curvature of 30 and a dead zone of about 5. Once I had applied those settings, the pedals work fantastically. I can't belive how smooth and accurate they are. Def a good buy imho. Ryzen 9 7950X3D - MSI MAG X670E TomaHawk MB, ASUS ROG Ryujin III 360 AIO 64gig Corsair DDR5@6000, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 AORUS Winwing Super Taurus, Orion2, TO / Combat panels, Collective with Topgun MIP MFG Crosswind pedals, NLR Boeing Mil Edition Simpit Trackir
BaD CrC
Fully agreed. I am using this Saitek combat rudder for a few weeks now, and they are above everything in this price range. I sold my good old CH Rudder who suddenly looked and felt like a toy compare to this rudder. I just hope Saitek's one will be as reliable as CH one. https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden
Pyroflash
I really want to buy the pro combat rudders, and I would, if my office chair didn't swivel... If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.
Succellus
As anything in our Hobbyjob, you buy it and you have to mess with curves, deadzones and whatnot. That when not heavily addicted people don t build it from scrath. I ve not the gut to do such yet, i m sure i would end up with something truly AFU. They work fine, so far my chair swivel too but adjusting pressure, curve and whanot they are fine. There s even people opening them up like a fish to remove the detent. Im very satisfyed really. There s better but you ll have to pay at least double, and unless you have a problem of money surpluss (in that case please contact me) they are worth it. I use an swivelling office chair with my combat pedals and the chair doesnt even come into the equation, no movement fromt he chair whilst using the rudder. bumfire
To be honest with ya, I think the saitek pedals will do just fine, ofcourse if you have extra cash and want the best then go simped, but the saiteks are really good. Seriously, they are great things those saitek combat pedals, I cant speak of the other saitek pedals but the combat ones are great and you wont be dissappointed should you choose them.

-odin-
I got my Saitek Combat pedals yesterday and was looking forward to unbox them and try them, but right now I am a little bit dissapointed, because they don't feel silky smooth. They are very precise, no doubt but when I push the left pedal forward it almost feels like it travel over some gravel halfway (a bit exaggerated, but you get the point). Is this normal or am I up for a RMA? Because right now, I am in doubt if I should sell my Hofmann pedals or not. ОДИН [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Same, though I bought the pro-flight pedals as I didn't really see the point of the more expensive ones. Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. Marder
... Saitek - PRO Flight Combat Rudder Pedals - $200 USD... First off: thanks for the links. The Saitek description says: "Self cantering with adjustable damping". Do they mean "centering"? Because the auto-centering was the reason why i sold my normal Saitek Rudder Pedals. EbonySeraphim
Sorry to hijack this thread somewhat - I had the same problem after I got my HOTAS Warthog and realized I needed rudder pedals (I upgraded from a TM HOTAS X). So I went out and got the Saitek Rudder Pedals. Anyone know what the toe brakes should map to? Wheel or air brakes? -odin-
Anyone know what the toe brakes should map to? Wheel or air brakes? If you have TM Warthog then you will have airbrakes on your throttleunit if you use the default setup, so you should map left and right wheelbrakes to your pedals. 1 ОДИН [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
