Right there is why ED are in the very top echelon of software devs. They really LISTEN and react to their customers issues and needs. No kneejerk see-sawing between feature overload / consolification, just a clear steady development of their greater vision taking shape.

It’s a great ride and i have a front row seat!

Yea, this is a relief, though the ridiculous random failure rate I got last month has not repeated itself this month. I was getting really ticked off. I guess they fired the ground crew :)

Oh, BTW, Wags did not state if this was added to the 1.1.0.8 patch or not. Since our last news on 1.1.0.8 was that it was going into the installer testing, unless I missed something else, we cannot safely assume that this feature is being added in 1.1.0.8. If you're doing installer testing, I would think that that would mean that the patch was feature-locked. It's quite possibly a feature for 1.1.0.9.

It is in the changelog if that helps illuminate things.

Huh? The change log was updated or was I so blind that I missed it on the first read through?

But yea, that helps illuminate things, like M257 rocket (yes I had to look that up :()

Yes, definitely a relief. Sometimes it is quite intriguing to have a random failure and need to circumvent somehow (e.g. a landing with your HUD gone).

But after starting up the Hog flying 10-15 min to the IP preparing all your weapons and systems and be struck by a nice IFFCC black out is not good! :furious:

You know that flight is over for today and you may head home to get the plane back to the crew.

Good to have an option now, though I would perhaps try to fly with random failures on, when I'm confident to pop the right procedures from my memory to counter them or have the time to actually enjoy the struggle :D

Maybe in a year or two.

I totally agree ED is awesome in stepping up to the feedback of their customers. Listen, understand and ACT... this is a rare trait in this times.

Thanks for the hours in the sim you let us live a childhood dream. Keep on with your brilliant work.

Something I have noticed with ED from back in my days beta testing with them, they never add everything to the change log. There are always surprise fixes with each patch. I guess sometimes you fix something and it breaks another but sometimes you fix something and it fixes another also. GREAT JOB ED. I am looking forward to the patch and weening myself off of labels.

Thank you, thank you

I love this game. Could never get Black Shark to work satisfactorily, but out of the box, A10 runs pretty well on my rig.

Question - self-shadowing cockpit, will it reduce fps, or is it reasonably light on the GPU?

The feature is in IL2-Cliffs of Dover, and I can't believe how immersive it feels.

Finally, I can run DCS!!!

Nice. I like the idea of random failures but I think the vast majority of us really don't want them cropping up on night's when the whole squadron is trying to get in the air with each other. Thanks for giving us the option ED.

We've had too many nights where we spent an hour ingressing to the target area to have someone call a CADC failure. It's frustrating, but this is the level of realism we asked for. I hope the option exists to alter the frequency of these random failures, instead of simply on/off.

I look at it like "turning random failures on simulates real-world economics and/or an average crew" and "turning random failures off simulates a good ecomony, where maint. schedules are gospel, and the crew is totally on top of it". nice feature, but for that one night per week i can spare to fly in squad, i don't want to piss around with 'real world'.

This is great news! I was a little worried about having a serious failure in mid-flight and not knowing what to do (Im still a noob). Now Ill just turn them on when Im ready and think I know what Im doing ;) Good job ED!

Quality of maintenance has nothing to do with it. Avionics parts suffer internal failures and the only thing that could possibly curtail it in the real world would have been finding someone more competent to manufacture it :P

Myself I've suffered next to zero random failures... I've actually hit more birds (250%) than had random equipment failures.

This option is great for those that don't want realism. Failures are a part of life, it's gonna happen.

This made me chuckle, no matter how "great" your crew chief is or how new your jet is...there is a chance something can/could/would happen.

This a a good feature for learning the jet without being threw in the shark tank.
