Yep JP-4 for Air Force and JP-5 for carrier jets. I heard JP-4 was some bad stuff, glad I never worked with that stuff only JP-8 here.

Are you sure bud? I thought JP-5 and JP-8 came out about the same time. JP-5 just has a higher flash point (Navy) I thought all Jet aircraft in Vietnam era used JP-4 or JP-7 (SR-71). O well Cali, your are the subject matter expert on this. Are there two versions of JP-5? The Navy still uses JP-5 right?

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..

I remember when I was a young airman at Eielson and the old guys talking about this stuff. I don't know when JP-5 came out, I just know about JP-8. Maybe the Navy still uses JP-5, I never said the Navy uses JP-8. Just that I knew they used 5. JP-8 is so much better then JP-4 they said, JP-8 you can light a fire by it and have nothing happen. I wouldn't try that and I doubt they did either, but it's suppose to be that safe.
