bartleby
I RMAed my Warthog a little while ago, and got the replacement in the mail yesterday. When I was setting it up, I noticed that the tag on the USB cord said "Version: V.3." Searched here and simhq, didn't find any mentions of different versions. Anyone else's say anything different? LawnDart
Interesting... never even knew my cord had a tag, heh. However, I know there's already been a few builds since the first production runs and just like the beta units there were minor improvements being done continuously. Updates are to be expected throughout the lifecycle of the product. BigBANGtheory
I don't think so from the point of view of the consumer. At the end of the day if a V.1 throttle and stick is working fine then what can it be doing differently to a V.3 especially given they all share the same firmware? Its probably some minor changes and possibly additional QA checks IMHO. There are some photos kicking about the web from the insides of an early TM Warthog Throttle perhaps a V.3 owner can unscrew their base carefully and do the same? I don't think you'll see much difference though.
LawnDart
I don't know, but I can ask...... It could even be minor changes between production runs that are labeled as a new ver. AFAIK, no major changes have been made between the final beta run and the first release version, however, software and firemare are always WIP. bartleby
I ask because I am in the interesting position of being able to pick between two Warthogs, one version 1 and the other version 3. I was just wondering if there were any substantial differences or if they were relatively minor. In my cursory external examination, they feel similar. Some of the throttle switches seem to feel a little better (particularly the china switch - always felt odd on my old v1). Not overwhelmingly so, though. hassata
No brainer, really. Especially with the first-run issues. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
LawnDart
Official word from TM: V1 or V3 corresponds to the firmware version that comes with the controller. 1 [sigpic]http://www.virtualthunderbirds.com/Signatures/sig_LD.jpg[/sigpic] Virtual Thunderbirds, LLC | Sponsored by Thrustmaster Corsair 750D Case | Corsair RM850i PSU | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS X CODE | 32GB Corsair DDR4 3200 | Intel i7-8086K | Corsair Hydro H100i v2 Cooler | EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW | Oculus Rift | X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty | Samsung SSD 970 EVO 1TB NVMe | Samsung SSD 850 EVO 1TB | WD Caviar Black 2 x 1TB | TM HOTAS Warthog | TM Pendular Rudder | TM MFD Cougar Pack | 40" LG 1080p LED | Win10 |
