Shootist
God! I hate this! Not the mission, mind you. It's the bugs, the glitches that occasionally happen. Some you can live with and carry on. Some you have to just throw your hands up in the air. I just had one of those. Now, bein self taught (which is pretty well the only way one masters this game) I have reached a point where I can do what is needed to complete a mission. I've got the Lat/Long thing down pat so, with this mission was good to go. Starting in the dark is no problem for me now as I know where the emerg flood switch is and I go for that first. Startup done, carefully crawling to takeoff all is good. I get permission to go and am away. I follow my waypoints, set path on auto to get me to 25000 (this is a bit tricky as I am hauling sooo much weight AP disengages twice as I lose my airspeed. A 3 degree climb eventually gets me there.) and proceed to input the 4 L/L targets. I set my countermeasures, fire up the pod, weapons and turn to the targets . I take a look at the first target input and I seem to be looking above the target. Could be an input error by me, I don't know because in the next second MY CANOPY BLOWS OFF, ALL MY EXTERNAL LIGHTS COME ON AND STARBORD WING DIPS!!! I straighten a few thing out but in all frustration I dump the mission. The only thing I wonder about is not toggling the bleed air and feed. Is this the games' way of telling me I've just passed out? Or died? I don't know. But, because I am now so damned addicted to this game I'll try till I get it. And I'll flip those toggles just to be safe.:) Edited May 25, 2011 by Shootist Asus P8P67Pro, Intel i7, 8gb DDR3, OCZ Vertex3, 120gb SSD, GForce GTX 560, Cooler Master GX850, Win 7, Logi X 3D Pro. Zeke
That's pretty wild, and cool that it would do that. Just finished this mission tonight, Grebs missions are great for getting to learn the sim!
Shootist
I flew it again. Start to finish. No glitches. Like I said, it has happened before. As with all my switch markings dissappearing, perhaps it's also related to my Nvidia card. I sure all will straighten out in time. GGTharos
There's no glitch. You hit the key combo to open the canopy and it blew off. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Speed
I'm with GG on this one, there is no glitch. Somehow your keyboard or HOTAS activated the wrong switches. Just a hint. NEVER EVER EVER EVER put eject or landing gear, or open canopy, etc, on your HOTAS. Even if it's on a keyboard combo that you could "never hit by accident", sometimes a controller will error out and generate like, every keystroke assigned to it, especially if it's an X-52 with its piss-poor PS2 loose connections. Furthermore, if you're not careful, then you can generate some unexpected keystroke combos, since what a programmable HOTAS does is generate keystrokes. If you have one key that does left control + something, and another key that does china hat aft ©, then it's entire possible that activating both those switches simultaneously could open the canopy (left control + c). Isn't the canopy locked in flight, though? I thought the only way to blow it off once airborne was via ejecting. It is possible to have an aborted ejection where only the canopy comes off? Certainly if you forget to arm the seat, I guess. Edited May 26, 2011 by Speed Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. Shootist
I'll have to check that out but it was more than just the canopy. All the exterior lights came on. And as far as I can remember I was just sitting there looking at my MFCD when suddenly there was an increase in noise and I thought 'Oh no, not again.' But, I'll check my keyboard settings asee if I'm leaning on something. Asus P8P67Pro, Intel i7, 8gb DDR3, OCZ Vertex3, 120gb SSD, GForce GTX 560, Cooler Master GX850, Win 7, Logi X 3D Pro.
