A different sort of failure

Recommended Posts

I was flying the Georgian hammer campaign this evening when I had a HOTAS failure mid flight. The stick and throttles worked fine, as did the swiches on the base of my TM warthog. However none of the HOTAs functions worked, no TMS, DMS or slew control etc. After a few minutes of headscratching I looked at the status page on the MFD and on page two the HOTAS entry showed as green. However I selected it and hit the 'Reset' button and low and behold my HOTAS functions all worked! I didnt even know that HOTAS failures were incorperated. Has anyone else had such a failure?

..hmm...seems like it could also be a hardware failure at your end..(or some sort of software / driver hiccup)

The easiest way to see is in the post mission briefing, it will tell you if you suffered damage / failure or not.

Hopefully it doesnt happen again.

I used to get random disconnections of my HOTAS (including the axis...would get the USB bing-bong), but a firmware / driver update resolved

Another way to check if it is an in game failure or hardware failure would be to try some of the hotas keys on the keyboard. If they don't either the keyboard and joystick failed at the same time or there is an in game failure.
