shawnyp420
Seconds after wheels up and oddly...at the same moment I raised the landing gear switch and flaps up - I hit a bird! I think anyway...the left engine stopped and caught fire. Took me about 3 seconds to get the handle pulled and discharged. Fun! Are birds modeled in the game? Would I be able to see it get sucked in?birdstrike.trk Edited June 12, 2011 by shawnyp420 AMD Ryzen 5 3600, ASUS X570-PLUS, NVidia RTX 2080, 32GB DDR4 @2400MHz, Samsung 850 EVO 250GB, Corsair H100i cooler, Oculus Rift S. GGTharos
Yes. :) You won't see them, they are modeled as a probability. You are most likely to hit a bird on take off or landing. RodBorza
Yes, they are. In the Options, on the gameplay tab, you'll see an option for birds. It is a slider that sets how much bird presence in the game you would allow. This is an amazing sim! shawnyp420
The bird slider is set to 100% but the random failures was turned off. Must have been a bird eh? That was a lot of fun! Blew a tire though on landing...I didn't seem to have much breaking power, even with the right engine and when I threw in the emergency break (even with anti-skid on) the breaks seemed to lock up and I spun out - nose high. GGTharos
It's a very heavy plane, try to use airbrakes to slow to 50kts or less before using brakes. Frostiken
IIRC you should turn anti-skid off if you have only one engine, otherwise it tends to suck your hydraulics away to parts unknown. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I say ... give them beak, wings and damage model + some red and white marks for the plane and we good to go ... :smilewink:

Bucic
when can put bird models in the game? i can make bird models and textures for dcs team. Can you do a 3D model of pure mathematical probability? ;) 1 https://akaagar.github.io/briefing-room-for-dcs/ F-5E simpit project https://forum.dcs.world/topic/318106-f-5e-simpit-cockpit-dimensions-and-flight-controls/
VMFA117_Poko
Can you do a 3D model of pure mathematical probability? ;) Yes. When probability taking place it could be animation link to A10 model so even if plane will turn to avoid the bird, it will be sucked always in right place (intake) :D

We might as well do with similar solution :D https://akaagar.github.io/briefing-room-for-dcs/ F-5E simpit project https://forum.dcs.world/topic/318106-f-5e-simpit-cockpit-dimensions-and-flight-controls/
Conure
There is only one thing this game is missing.... FULL DX11 RENDERED BIRD GUTS AND BLOOD EFFECTS ON THE CANOPY! Then I'll be happy. Brakes are normally powered by the L hydraulic system. Lose the L engine and you need to pull the yellow handle to switch to a reservoir powered by R HYD to give you brake pressure. You will not have anti skid though, so opt for a long runway, AD brake and then brake gently. BTW, no real rush pulling the fire handle. Sort out the aircraft first, then pull - too many accidents have happened due to air crew focusing on broken systems rather than flying in the critical phase of taking off - and thats in multi-crew environments. You have another engine and a firewall. ----- Introduction to UTM/MGRS - Trying to get your head around what trim is, how it works and how to use it? - DCS helos vs the real world.
