skulz Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Hello folks,I'm new in here and this is my first Thread, I will get a new PC for most recent games especially for Flaming cliffs 2 and DCS, Im confused about GPU companies which one should I get for better sharp and realistic graphics in Maxed out settings. for Flaming cliffs and DSC. AMD or nVIDIA? For an example and the thread is in here http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=76168 I used nVIDIA but this time im going to get MSI HD 6870 HAWK. Because of the price performance power saving when compared to nVIDIA's My hardware is: MOBO:ASUS P8P67 PRO (B3 rev) CPU:INTEL Core i5-2500K RAM:G.SKILL RipjawsX DDR3-1600Mhz CL8 8GB (2x4GB) DUAL (8-8-8-24) 1.5V HDD:WESTERNDIGITAL Caviar Black 1TB 64MB 7200rpm SATA 6.0Gb/s GPU: MSI R6870 HAWK 256Bit 930MHz GPU / 4200MHz "probably"?? Case:COOLER MASTER HAF 912 Plus RC-91P-KKN1 PSU:CORSAIR TX850 V2 850W 80+ BRONZE Am I going to get realistic image quality with the AMD GPU's? Is there anyone who uses AMD in FC2 and DCS can someone post screenshot please? Thanks.
galagamo Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 You should be able to get similar image quality out of either brand depending of course on the series. If you know how you can tweak the settings a little to make it look better for instance, in DCSWH the ingame options only allows x16S AA, which still left a bit of shimmering, so I turned it off completely ingame, and using the invidia control panel I set AAmode to overide application settings and set AA to X16SQ. skulz Posted July 4, 2011 Author Posted July 4, 2011 Thanks for your reply, I think this time im going with AMD Radeon GPU never used ATI/AMD before so all I want is eye-candy quality ^_^
Succellus Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 There s was a post from ED saying Nvidia Drivers where less freakelish tweaked than the ATI ones, so it was easyer for developpers. If you go 3+ monitors and don t want a 590, ATI seems the way to go. If you want less chances of problems or have cleaner drivers Nvidia is the way to go. (It seems) HaF 922, Asus rampage extreme 3 gene, I7 950 with Noctua D14, MSI gtx 460 hawk, G skill 1600 8gb, 1.5 giga samsung HD. Track IR 5, Hall sensed Cougar, Hall sensed TM RCS TM Warthog(2283), TM MFD, Saitek pro combat rudder, Cougar MFD.
skulz Posted July 7, 2011 Author Posted July 7, 2011 (edited) No I will use a 21,5" or 21" Monitor, with 8GB 1600MHz Dual 1.5V Gsill Ripjaws RAMS. I just have maximum 300$ :/ Is there any GFX in this price than the MSI HD 6870 HAWK ? Edited July 7, 2011 by skulz
EtherealN Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 (edited) You mean that the budget for your GPU is $300 US? You'll have tonnes of options then. Stolen from techreport.com. EtherealN Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Judging by that graph, a 6950 would probably be your best bet on the AMD side, yeah, though that MSI 560Ti SOC looks even better. (That is a factory overclock 560 though, and you might be able to find factory-overclocked 6950's at the same price point.) EtherealN Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Either. I do not think you'll see much difference. How you set it up will have a WAY bigger impact than anything inherent to either of them. It clearly shows that I should buy 6850 :D I only wonder if my 400 W PS will handle that card... majapahit Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 .. 6850 .. I only wonder if my 400 W PS will handle that card... probably not dont be cheap on a PS, they're unstable (like in BSOD's) | VR goggles | Autopilot panel | Headtracker | TM HOTAS | G920 HOTAS | MS FFB 2 | Throttle Quadrants | 8600K | GTX 1080 | 64GB RAM| Win 10 x64 | Voicerecognition | 50" UHD TV monitor | 40" 1080p TV monitor | 2x 24" 1080p side monitors | 24" 1080p touchscreen |
Bucic Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 (edited) I'm cheap all the way. Why the PS should get a special treatment ;) First - BSODs. Only then a new PSU. Edit: It appears that a burned PS or major PC components may come BEFORE BSODs... skulz Posted July 11, 2011 Author Posted July 11, 2011 I will go with MSI's twin frozr iii 6950 2GB... I hope the Radeon's image quality would be same as nVIDIA's
