Mohamengina
Is it possible to repair your aircraft once you land it?
nomdeplume
Yes, just shut everything down and wait about 3 minutes. I think you need to be within the ground crew radius for this to work, i.e. in the same kinds of places you need to be to rearm or refuel. There's no comms associated with it though, just shutdown and wait.
Mohamengina
Including the engines? If so, how do you turn them off?
KKR75
My question I cannot seem to find an answer for is how do you know what the crew radius is? In another thread is says that is is usually programmed by the mission designers, but in all the SP missions I've flown, I don't see it in the editor. I always try to use the intercom and hotmic but it never works (yes the switches are setup properly as far as I can tell), so I revert to VHF ground crew and it works. Who can help? nomdeplume
Including the engines? If so, how do you turn them off? Especially the engines. You turn them off in the opposite way of how you start them: move them from 'idle' to 'off'. The default keybindings if I recall are RAlt+Home to start the left engine, and RAlt+Home to start the right engine. To stop them it's End instead of Home, i.e. RAlt+End and RCtrl+End. My question I cannot seem to find an answer for is how do you know what the crew radius is? In another thread is says that is is usually programmed by the mission designers, but in all the SP missions I've flown, I don't see it in the editor. As far as I know it's 'hardcoded' into the game, i.e. not something mission designers have any control over (all they can control is who owns which airfield, by placing units of the appropriate coalition in its vicinity). EtherealN
Regarding ground crew - you basically just need to have a ground crew at the airbase. As long as you stay on the base you should be fine. Ground crew exists on bases that belong to your coalition. They can be made to belong to your coalition in one of two ways: through friendly planes starting there in the mission, or friendly ground forces capturing it during the mission. (Obviously, enemy forces can capture your air fields as well.) KKR75
RE: communicating with the ground crew, I still don't understand how to communicate with the Intercom panel. I've set the dial switch appropriately (although there's no mark for the dial, it's not easy to see which position it's on), and pressed and depressed the hotmic button, but nothing happens, not even a subtitle. Can someone post the exact procedure?
sobek
Yes, just shut everything down and wait about 3 minutes. AFAIK you just have to shut down the engines, so turn on the APU and APU GEN, kill the engines and as soon as repaired you are good to go with all your systems still up and running. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!

Likewise, you can turn on your ground power, than kill the engines System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer

Phuz
Anybody know for certain whether or not motoring to cool down engine ITTs after shutdown helps speed repair time?
sobek
Anybody know for certain whether or not motoring to cool down engine ITTs after shutdown helps speed repair time? It won't speed up repair time, in fact, i think the engines must be at standstill for the repair timer to count down at all. What motoring does help with is shortening the time until you can safely restart your engines, because ITT must be below 150°C before atempting a restart. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Devrim
By the way; Repair time is 170 secs. Can we edit a lua file to reduce the repair time?
