poschi
I have a quick question. Why hasnt a us heli like the ah-64d or something similar the the possibility to use elprs? Only the russian ka-50 has this. I would like to use a heli as afac. But the heli should send the coords of the target on the tad because I think there are a lot of people outside who dont know how to enter coords in the cdu. AlphaOneSix
The AH-64D does have this. It's called the IDM (Improved Data Modem). However, like most things, interoperability is a sticky issue. Current platforms supported by the AH-64D IDM: AH-64D, OH-58D, JSTARS, A2C2S (Army Airborne Command and Control System), UH-60Q, SOA (Special Operations Aviation), AVTOC (Aviation Tactical Operations Center) The IDM plays the key role in the U.S. Army's "Digitization of the Battlefield" efforts. The Army utilizes the IDM to transmit J-STARS data from the E-8C aircraft to Army Command Centers, the GSM and attack helicopters. As a Tactical Combat Internet Controller, the IDM provides the Army enhanced situational awareness by presenting a seamless, interconnected data network architecture. The Army uses the IDM to digitally pass Longbow Radar target data from Longbow-equipped AH-64Ds to other AH-64C/D, OH-58D (Kiowa Warrior), AVTOC, or Command Centers. The IDM passes 256 maximum targets that the Longbow has acquired during its sweep of the battlefield, so that target assignment and friendly unit designation can be rapidly executed. On the OH-58D, the IDM is being used for Scout and Fire Support missions. Of course, none of this works with the A-10C, so using AH-64D or OH-58D as an AFAC would mean manually sending target data/9-line via voice over the radio. poschi
Thank you for your quick reply. Too bad the A10C is not compatible with a Ah-64. I will use the Ka-50 for the mission. It is a little bit strange but the Ka-50 has Elprs  Regards
AlphaOneSix
You mean in-game the Ka-50 can send targets to the A-10? The real Ka-50 obviously does not have EPLRS. It's got a datalink, but not one that's compatible with anything in the U.S. Whether or not that's something that's "fudged" in the game, I don't know. poschi
I got another question. The Afac is really buggy and it seems that the server crashes quite often with it. Is it possible to send every player the coords directly in the tad with a trigger action? So that the player has not to enter it manually in the cdu.:helpsmilie:

It really is very easy once you done it a few times...if anything, you should encourage people to learn how to do it by incorporating it into missions...adds to the realism and enjoyment. :)
Joyride
I got another question. The Afac is really buggy and it seems that the server crashes quite often with it. As for the AFAC/FAC/JTAC, I got so frustrated in the last mission I made that I finally decided to have the JTAC killed in a massive fireball (simulated mortar attack), then the players had to pick up the targets visually based on some voice-over radio calls. Realistic scenario, you know, and brought me great joy. ;)
