Speed Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Sorry for the dumb question but: After getting boozed up enough to actually enjoy it, I just fired up single player for the first time ever. However, while talking to the JTAC, some keyboard combination got activated and my eyes are getting raped by this: How does one disable the radio history? I've searched and searched, and I cannot find it anywhere. Yea, like I said, sorry for the noob question... but I can't fly like this, and in hundreds of hours of multiplayer, I've never accidentally activated this for some reason. I've started single player, in a separate instance, and searched through the keystrokes. I searched the forums. And I searched the manual. Nothing. Nowhere. Talks. About. This!!!! This will probably end up being the first and last time I ever fly single player! :no_sad:   Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. Speed Posted August 15, 2011 Author Posted August 15, 2011 Jesus calm down. It's a rare bug. Nate Calm? I AM CALM!!!!!!!! Oh, so it's a bug? I thought it was a feature! I mean, it makes sense as a feature! It should be a feature really... but ok... may I will just have to deal with it, unpause and fly back. :D Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. Speed Posted August 15, 2011 Author Posted August 15, 2011 Hmmm, that's not a bad idea actually. Nate Sorry... it's just that this thing makes sense as a feature, I figured it was so I had to ask... Fixed it by quitting the game, actually. :noexpression: Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. Nate--IRL-- Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 In the mean time if you park the radio menu in a conversation like an ATC it will clear it of the screen temporarily. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
shadowmind Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 I had this problem once and only once. I thought it was a feature as well. I think I ended up getting shot down because I was so distracted (yeah, I'm going to blame the text ;))
Baggy MacDouche Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Hmmm, that's not a bad idea actually. Nate +1 Sometimes I really hate the fact that the radio messages disappear automatically after a short time without any way to recall them. Would love to see a new feature come out of this that would allow you to see a history of radio messages. Heck, scripted mission messages too. :) Oh heck, might as go the whole distance and request that chat history can be scrolled back to the point of logon. :D Chop chop...Christmas is only 4 months away. :D Corsair Graphite 780T / ASUS Maximus VIII Hero / i7-6700K@4.5GHz / Corsair H110i / 32GB DDR4 PC-2666 / ASUS 1080 Strix / EVGA 850 Pro / Samsung 950 Pro M.2 SSD / Win10x64 / Samsung UN48JU7500 4k / Logitech G910/933 KB/Headphones / Razer Naga Epic Mouse / MFG Crosswinds / TM HOTAS Warthog / HTC Vive
Guest Fury_007 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Happened to me on two separate occasions. I thought I hit some weird combination of keys to activate it. +1 for making it a feature.
Speed Posted August 16, 2011 Author Posted August 16, 2011 Did you happen to press the Scroll Lock key? I don't think so... but who knows. One weird thing I get while using my mic switch is that my frame rate counter comes up a lot. I thought that had to do with pause-break, but pause-break is not bound anywhere. Anyway, if it does pop up, I always close the frame rate counter using cntrl-pause/break or whatever it is. Anyway, sorry for posting a topic all about this. I was slightly... inebriated :D, and if I had had any idea that this was a bug, I would have posted in the tech support forums, or more than likely, not at all. Also, +1 for making this a toggle-able feature like the chat history. Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. I was hoping there was a way to recall radio messages and scripted messages such as in the mission Smerch Hunt. Simply can't type in those coordinates fast enough before they disappear. Hope some option to look at previous messages is added at some point.
Garfieldo Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 (edited) Simply can't type in those coordinates fast enough before they disappear. That's why I always have pen and paper ready, as most people here (and all RL pilots) probably do, too. That feature would still be very nice, especially for multiplayer. Edited August 22, 2011 by Garfieldo
Elwin Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 I also have pen and paper always ready, but real pilots can always ask the other side to repeat if they didn't catch it. Not always possible in simulation, for instance when you contact ATC for inbound, you get quite a lot of info back: heading, distance, QFE and runway. Even if I concentrate, sometimes I miss some bit (like when wingman feels like chatting simultaneously on different frequency). Then (if you decide you need that info) you have to abort inbound and try again...
Fuzzysham Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 I figured the response would be "use pen and paper". I understand that pilots have a kneeboard or something but man that seems just going a bit too far, even for this sim. Even the sim makes compromises in places, I think message history should be an additional one. Also, I have zero room left on my computer desk for a pen and paper. The TM Warthog, MFD's, keyboard, 24" monitor, mouse, etc...takes up a lot of room. Just saying.
