toby23
EDIT 3 - 20.08 - Values changed, fog, opaque buildings, clear ground textures, no pop-up, 10km view distance for trees I can't figure this problem out. Change A, B changes. Change B, A changes. Change A again, C changes. For more info see here Below are the settings I'm using at the moment. I'm waiting until the compatibility patch comes. Fingers crossed. ------------- Something's been puzzling me ever since I reinstalled Black Shark. How to get the combination of solid buildings in the shkval, fog, clear ground textures up to the horizon and a realistic view distance for objects? After messing around with settings for a few days, I've finally found some that work, for me at least, for DCS Black Shark. After reading a similar post by Bucic and having no success with his settings, I set about trying to find a set that would work for me and as such, this might work for you, it might not. Make sure to set textures, scenes and visib range to high in game. Screenshots at end of post. How to 1. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Config\graphics_bs.cfg 2. Backup this file 3. Open this file with Notepad++ 4. Edit the following lines Camera High { near_clip = 0.2; middle_clip = 5; far_clip = 120000; structures = {60, 9000}; trees = {1000, 15000}; dynamic = {300, 20000}; objects = {5000, 80000}; mirage = {3000, 20000}; surface = {20000, 80000}; lights = {200, 80000}; lodMult = 2.0; lodAdd = 0; }LandLODDistances LandDay { L01 = 20000; L12 = 80000; } OldLandNoise OldLandNoise { perSquare = 5; perSquare2 = 150; front = 1000; back = 80000; top = 2500; map_high = 20000; bottom = 2000; noisemax = 0.5; noisemin = 0.1; }End Section FogParam1 = 6; FogParam2 = 2.0; Edited August 20, 2011 by toby23 Ryzen 5800X, 32GB RAM, RTX 3060
Bucic
If this works then congratulations! You've just slain the biggest party pooper of BS. :) But now the trees look like poo. Do they look like this in the same conditions without your mod? 1 F-5E simpit cockpit dimensions and flight controls
toby23
It works for me :) I didn't change any settings for the trees apart from clip distance. I guess it's the tree haze (?) effect exaggerated through my ENB Mod settings. I do use grandsurf and rocky's textures... maybe that changes the trees? Would be great to see this and the fog fixed in the patch... Thanks for your original post which inspired me to figure this out. None of your settings worked for me, so maybe these won't work for you? Edited August 18, 2011 by toby23 Ryzen 5800X, 32GB RAM, RTX 3060
Bucic
I'm not going to try this out anytime soon but it's good to know it has been cracked. Now you'll have to convince server hosts to implement these settings otherwise it will not take effect during MP, AFAIK. With the compat. patch for BS the issue will be gone - both transparency and mid 90's fog implementation. As for the trees, you might want to check out my mod. See the mods directory. toby23
That's right, they're your trees! I forgot I had them installed.... Ryzen 5800X, 32GB RAM, RTX 3060
Bucic
Weird. My trees are darker than the stock ones so the stock ones would look even worse (too bright). F-5E simpit cockpit dimensions and flight controls
toby23
I just tried that and stock ones look worse. Its not the enb mod either, actually looks better with it on. Do your trees look like this? Ryzen 5800X, 32GB RAM, RTX 3060
Bucic
That's what I'm trying to say - they don't. My trees are darker than the stock ones and what I see on your shots are trees lighter than anything I've seen. Clearly a side effect of your tweaks. Dowly
Stock trees here and they look like the ones in the 2nd screenshot with these tweaks. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "I don't like porn. I simply appreciate the female anatomy ...a lot."
toby23
weird, it must be the fog param that's affecting them... roll on compatibility patch.... Edited August 18, 2011 by toby23 Ryzen 5800X, 32GB RAM, RTX 3060

toby23
After more testing, I found the culprit. It's the SIMMOD Loreload Terrain Mod. With that installed, the trees go weird. With it uninstalled, normal trees... Ryzen 5800X, 32GB RAM, RTX 3060
Bucic
hah, well done! Have you tested it in MP? F-5E simpit cockpit dimensions and flight controls
toby23
Matt, With all due respect, have you even tried those settings? - Far Clip is tied to Fog Param in a way I cannot explain, it's not just the horizon clipping. - L12 and noiseback do not affect performance but they do give you clear ground textures. - L12 is ground texture clipping distance - noiseback is how close the ground textures are allowed to get blurry Do your research before you post misinformation. The settings I posted do not affect performance. Screenshot below shows these settings. Bucic, I don't fly online, so I haven't been able to test. toby23
Ok, I accept defeat on the fog issue. I've just spent another 3 hours trying to figure this out and can't. I've updated my original post with figures that give me no fog and solid buildings. I guess this is the compromise until the patch comes? I've also updated the texture, tree and building view distance to more conservative figures. Those settings are undocumented and tied to each other. Matt, why do you think I've done literally tens of parameters combinations? parameters x, y, z x, y, z+1 x, y, z+2 . . . x, y, z+n x, y+1, z x, y+2, z . . . x, y+n, z And so on, to try to determine the relations and effects on in-game graphics. Toby, again, well done. Anything more is a waste of time, IMO. Same as with banging our heads against the wall to try to modify the sky color. Since the current ED team is working on the new graphics engine we can only hope they will take notes and share them less reluctantly. toby23
Matt, If those settings work for you, that's great. They don't work for me and that seems to be the problem here.
