vortex360 Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 God damn now I have to read the god damn manual all over again. Fixing things that are not broken with these patches. It is a pain in the hind to load the game and then have to go back and learn the new way to do things. Sick of it.
GGTharos Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Just what's 'fixed' that wasn't broken before? Did having to turn on the MFCDs and the EGI get your goat? 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

hog_driver111th Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Just what's 'fixed' that wasn't broken before? Did having to turn on the MFCDs and the EGI get your goat? Classic. Vortex, I'm sure you're thinking of the "if it ain't broken, don't fix it" quote, but in the case of the A-10C, fixing things just makes everything more real. Granted some things break in the fixing (AAR), but that's to be expected with a couple million lines of code. EtherealN Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 A very nice alternative to re-reading the whole manual is to read the patch notes. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester

ralfidude Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 That would make him forget even more, then he really will need the manual. [sIGPIC]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b66/ralfidude/redofullalmost_zpsa942f3fe.gif[/sIGPIC]
Conure Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Completely agree with the OP! You should have left the game in beta! I was perfectly happy with my cannon slowing my fps to 2 and then you went and 'fixed it' I HATE YOU FOR IMPROVING THE SOFTWARE THAT. WE INVEST our time in. bluepilot76 Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 To be fair to OP, if you are REALLY stoned, it gets quite hard to tie your shoe laces, let alone operate something as complex as the A-10C. I dont think the manual is the way to go though. Way too much to take in. Technical Specs: Asus G73JW gaming laptop... i7-740QM 1.73GHz ... GTX460m 1.5GB ... 8GB DDR5 RAM ... Win7 64 ... TIR5 ... Fish Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Forget the manual. ronht Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 I just don't understand all the complaining. I've been involved in flight simulations for a very long time. Look at where all the great titles of the past have gone. The Janes Series, Falcon 4, all the flight simulations, that attempted to give us something more in depth than an X-box experience are gone. No longer supported by their corporate sponsors - why? In my opinion, internet forums and the need for so many people to complain, because, I guess they feel it empowers them somehow. Complaints over flight simulations have, in my opinion, led developers to move to the simplistic X-box approach, because every X-box is the same, they don't have to make it realistic and put up with all the complaints. Less complaints means more money and less realistic flight simulations. I guess to sum it up, if you don't want the complexity of a simulation, then buy an X-box and be happy. Life is too short to get this riled up over something like this. OK that was more than my 2 cents worth
Irregular programming Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 What is the new functionality in the patch anyway? I've flown a couple of times but has not noticed anything that works completely different than before in a way that I can't figure out how to use it.
ALDEGA Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Read the release notes to learn about the changes.
Irregular programming Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 (edited) Read the release notes to learn about the changes. I have read the release notes serveral times and I still can not see anything that would prevent me from flying the bird more or less exactly as I did in 1.0.0.9. :music_whistling: Edited November 16, 2011 by Irregular programming

Life is too short to get this riled up over something like this. OK that was more than my 2 cents worth I agree fully, except I believe other developers have left flight sims simply because they cost too much for what they feel they can gain. The negatrons will never go away, especially on the internet. Their entitled to their "opinion" as long as it's in accordance with the forum rules :).:pilotfly: Not directed at the OP, but how serious some individuals take this (to go as far as slamming and criticizing the company that essentially is feeding you at this point) on business decisions, updates, new products simply because it doesn't fit the individuals preferences is beyond me. I know we're a community here and we all contribute to some degree, but the roadmap released by Wags was IMHO a very positive thing, but many have turned it into a very negative thing. I just don't understand that mentality I guess and it's amazing to see what it takes to make some people "happy". I LOVE how ED supports their titles, FC3 is a classic example of that. The game is 10 years old and is still getting patched/updated. Yes there is a price to pay, but overall it's improvement the whole game experience, not just bug fixing. The new roadmap has indicated some growth in their ambitions as well, also VERY far from a bad thing. CODEMASTERS by comparison drops support on their titles after 6 months, COD brass drop their limited support after a year (new one every year at full retail price). ops, that was rant-ee...I'm sorry about that. BMS: It's recent release has kept the Falcon dream alive. Jet Thunder: What, 7-8 years in the making, due now to be released Dec 2011, but if you've seen any gameplay video it's hardly inspiring. Fighter Ops:...... Seven G: ......... ED: (see wags roadmap as well as FC2, BS2, A-10C) CloD: Some people can play, many can't, I can't in it's current state. It will be a good year or so before it's playable, and I paid full price for it (my fault in purchasing so hastily). Rise of Flight: Great sim, but the airframes make can make it costly and WWI isn't everybody's cup of tea. Online is airquake and lacks variety.

It could very well be that in previous attempts in flying the a10 he was and that his happy recollections of flying were in fact a figment of his imagination. It's very possible he never got the hog powered up even though he may have vivid memories of 'flying through the skies' on previous attempts. The lack of altered state in the last attempt has just shown the reality of his previous encounters with the hog. So I summary, you are correct , not much 'inside' of the game has changed, external factors are at play. :) Edited November 16, 2011 by metalnwood
