I don't know. If ED modelled a well-known WWII hi-perf prop plane I'd certainly buy it out of curiosity to see whether they get the prop and torque effects right... unlike, say, IL-2.

But as it comes to the continuation of the DCS series itself - well yeah, I can see why people aren't too enthusiastic for such a beast ;)

The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

Simulatori: DCS A-10C II Warthog - DCS F/A-18C Hornet - DCS F-16C - VRS F/A-18E -
HOTAS: TM Warthog - Cougar \ HP Reverb G2 \ WinWing Panels

Tally: I see the degenerate commie who wants to ruin our day.

WW2 Plane are awesome and with The Fighter Collection we can have an expensive list of choice, but in a simulator like that i don't think that a WW2 plane can be really nice, maybe just for testing WW2 plane vs generation 3 or 4 fighter ^^ but that's all

For me the best choice will be F/A-18E and F Super Hornet for the next aircraft and the F-14 Tomcat for the Flying Legend !! With carrier OP for both, or why not the Super Hornet and a old Russian plane like Mig-21 for people who want to pilot a Russian plane and not always a US and for BVR the MIG-21 have no advantage against modern plane but in dogfight the Mig-21 can be really dangerous :p

Or maybe a French Mirage 3 for change a little, anyways we will see, i want to see WW2 plane yeah but i prefer see for DCS Vietnam/Cold war plane, if we see any WW2 aircraft we must see quickly after the rival, like BF-109 -> Spitfire, but same for old jet like Mig-21 -> F-14/Mirage 3

WW2 planes are a blast to fly.Turn off the HUD in the A10 and do landings in varying weather.Heck even take offs and flying seem more fun to me without a HUD giving you tons of info. Then add in the prop effects and I can see legends taking off.And lest we not forget that WW2 is all about the dogfight. ;)

Dude, buy one copy of any IL-2 and you are covered for life. Unlike some stuff from you-know-who.

Easy MP, easy setup, zillion of servers, players, mods, skins that can be seen by other players, etc... And, for your pleasure only, drilling sound of props, no HUD, and I even heard a rumor that some lot of stock aircraft are related to WW2 and, strangely, on many maps from that period. Dunno.

Later on, in case you miss doghfighting with fighter planes, after playing some tractors with AFM from you-know-who, install Korea mod.

Case closed. Open preflight checklist: Prop off. Jet on.

Definitely old and Oleg caused me to lose my love for him when he added in the wiggles and claimed it was real and then claimed it was all in our heads. His torque model was blah also and most importantly he tried to add in a super large amount of planes instead of a study sim.DCS will release study sim Legend planes and this is where it will shine.

it would be easy to do the mustang AND the spitfire they are pretty much the same even if the spit is more famous.

Yes, both are props powered with Merlin engine, but they are completely different when comes to flying and operating.

Yup, WW2 lol, I'd like to get real legends - MiG-21, MiG-23\27, F-4 Phantom, Su-22. But we will see what exactly it is going to be. Perhaps even will be fun flying tractor lol ;]

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

Which makes it preeeety obvious that you are a little prone to simplification... :)

yup they're pretty much the same..

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Spit has the same engine - and it's 71.5% of the whole plane.

I share 70% likeness with a donkey, composition wise. :)

Some of my contemporaries think that the likeness is even higher, but that is a different story altogether. :D

DCS: P-51D Mustang Coming in 2012

The Fighter Collection and Eagle Dynamics will release their next Digital Combat Simulator (DCS) aircraft in 2012: the legendary P-51D Mustang. The Mustang was among the best and most well-known fighters used by the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. Possessing excellent range and manoeuvrability, the P-51 operated primarily as a long-range escort fighter and also as a ground attack fighter-bomber with bombs, rockets, and machine guns. The Mustang served in nearly every combat zone during WWII, and later fought in the Korean War.

The DCS: P-51D Mustang will be modelled at the same exacting detail as the existing Ka-50 Black Shark and A-10C Warthog Digital Combat Simulation (DCS) aircraft and it will be online compatible with them. Based on many years of restoring, flying and maintaining Mustangs, The Fighter Collection brings its unique ability to portray this aircraft in its full glory.

The P-51D will be the first aircraft in the Flying Legends series that focuses on historical aircraft that have set benchmarks in combat aviation. This series of simulations demonstrates the broad scope of DCS simulation environment and its ability to introduce aircraft from all eras into a common simulation environment. While the P-51D started as an internal technology demonstration, it has evolved into an independent product that adds an all new dimension to the DCS universe. The development of the P-51D and other Flying Legends series aircraft definitely does not preclude the continued development of modern aircraft.

More details of DCS: P-51D Mustang will be made available closer to product release later this year.
