Faulty TM Warthog =(

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

It appears my TM warthog throttle has gone faulty as button 28 (AP alt) stays lit constantly. This means I can't get ALT mode to work as it needs to toggle.

Has anyone else experienced this? I've taken it apart and checked the toggle switch - its fine. Given it a blast with air cleaner and electrical cleaner. The toggle switch is soldered into a circuit board. I've disconnected the toggle switches circuit board from the main board and btn 28 has gone off which shows the problem is somewhere in the internal cable onwards.

There were no holiday's involved when I had to contact TM, MFD issue not Warthog, and it still tended to run at least a full day before I would get a response from an email.

make photographic copies of yer receipts and box with serial number, ready to send to them.

TM tried to squeeze out of issuing a replacement throttle to me for 9 weeks (then took another 2 weeks to arrive)

A quick update - Thrustmaster have confirmed that they are sending a circuit board out to me to replace my faulty one as I requested. Yay!

Sadly the circuit board replacement causes far more issues - switches don't work until one is switched on then they all switch on, the LED's are short circuiting depending on the new switches.

I plugged the old board in and the old behaviour of btn 28 staying on was back. I can't work out why there is such a different behaviour in the two parts unless they are both faulty or there is a weird fault in the mainboard.

Looks like I'm shipping back to a repair centre.

do the cables seem ok?

my issue was intermittent buttons being invoked erroneously, and it seemed the black stuff that protects the cables had disintegrated in places from being rubbed when the throttles move (cause it's all a tight fit in there)

Update: I received my working Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle back this week. It appears to be 100% fixed. Unfortunately customs held it for 2 weeks in France trying to charge tax to TM thinking it was a new unit that needed duty paid.

It cost me over $100 to send it back to them in France. I've recieved an email this morning saying:

"Also, we would like to inform you that you will receive shortly the documentation for the return shipping fees that you will have to pay."

Ugh.

i dont think i'd be rushing to pay that if i already had the throttle back in hand. you're already $100 out of pocket due to their faults!

i'd question why you have to pay for shipping, when other people have had replacement throttles sent for free to australia (and never had to send in their broken one).
