Madfish
Hello everyone, Two questions: 1) Will the Black Shark 2 upgrade edition be updated sometime so that it doesn't require Black Shark to be installed prior to installing BS2? What does it require exactly to be upgraded / activated? is it the game files or just a serial? If it's just a serial why not have a formfield to enter the Black Shark serial key into BS2? 1) Prior to buying the Black Shark 2 upgrade I want to ask how all this will work when Combined Arms comes out. This is very important to me. Maybe it's just me but I see Combined Arms as one game package when it's released. As such I don't want to have 4 or more installs just to get it to work. Will there be: a new streamlined install process that installs Combined Arms and all 3 games as a package or will we have to: - install A-10 - install Black Shark - install Flaming Cliffs 2 - then install Black Shark 2 and Flaming Cliffs 3 - and after that install Combined Arms... I hope you get the idea. It could possibly mean a total of 4 to 6 installations! Imagine if then one game has corrupt files or whatever. That said I really hope that all this will be sorted out. I'm fine with installing a game and patching it from time to time but not with 4 to 6 separate installations. Thanks in advance Best regards
nemises
Hi Madfish, The Upgrade edition was released to allow for owners of BS1 to get the game at a discounted price (as I'm sure you know)... the BS2 installer is looking for the presence of a registry set that indicates a BS1 activated install.... If you have an upgrade key, you will always need an activated BS1 key if you wish to install BS2... Having said that, it should be possible to export the relevant registry keys that match your hardware code to the BS1 serial, and make sure to have those imported at the time of BS2 install...but it's probably just easier to keep track of your BS1 activation. As long as you dont cross the starforce hardware change threshold, the activation should remain valid....the physical BS1 files are not referenced at all. Having a BS1 key / activation process during the BS2 Upgrade install would have been a good idea, but I do not believe this will happen going forward...the upgrade edition was a compromise. For combined arms, you know as much as anyone on the topic...and until ED release more info, there is only speculation. My guess is that it will function as a separate install (like BS, A10 and FC2) , but purely speculation. Sorry, not much help in my post... Jona33
I agree with Nemesis on combined arms. I think it will be a separate game MP compatible with the others. The other possibility would be to have it like a patch meaning you can join as a JTAC without loading up the new game. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
