Mauser55
My second mission which easily follows The Valley Run mission ============================================================ [sP] The Summit In Tbilisi !! HINTS/IMPORTANT !! Listening/reading of radio messages is essential You should be able enter coordinates in multiple formats Choose your weapons wisely you dont know what will be your next target Dont try to do textbook examples of dive, bombing run etc. sometimes time is crucial Mission has more phases not only escort Tested only with v1.1.1.1 SITUATION Today at 0700 is set a meeting in Tbilisi. Attended by locals and our representative general Peret. General will arrive to Lochini airport in his C130. After that his convoy (Star 1-1) will go towards meeting point (MP) located in Tbilisi. Your task is to protect Star 1-1 and provide CAS in Tbilisi area if needed. OBJECTIVE 1. Take off from Vaziani at 0700 (ramp) 2. Fly to IP 3. Recieve orders from Star 1-1 4. Follow orders 5. Wait for clearence to RTB (clearence in radio message not that from AFAC/JTAC) 6. RTB COMMUNICATION: ATC - Vaziani - 140 MHz VHF AM AFAC - Dodge 1-1 - 30 MHz VHF FM CAS - Colt 1-1, Springfield 1-1 - 2x AH-64D - 140 MHz VHF AM F10 - Other menu UPDATE voice over v1.1 Voice over version repaired - no more game crashes ;-) UPDATE Add voice over version The.Summit.in.Tbilisi.mizThe.Summit.in.Tbilisi.voice.over.v1.1.miz Edited March 30, 2012 by Mauser55

sgibson
HI, I briefly played it today ... this mission is again absolutely great!! Unfortunaltely I crashed due to lack of attention :-) I had two major issues: When the convoy approached the city they messaged that there is tall building with soldiers on top. So I leveled that place. It turned out to be friendly fire :-( I would explicily mention that they are approaching friendlies ... After that minor "incident" the convoy was followed by BMPs. Well ... I took out a BMP which was also one of ours. The vehicle appeared with the message, was flagged with an X but it wasn't there before and I tought it has been marked intentionally. Besides that the mission is really really great! I would want to see more of these type of missions.

The message which you mentioned is only informative that convoy is closing to MP (meeting point). And in that message is not mentioned any order to attack anything. The MP is of course protected by frendlies ground units (including infantry on roofs). You are not suppose to attack MP. You are not suppose to attack anything until somebody directly tell you to do so. SPOILER You have to read radio messages closely :-). In case of second ambush the radio message from Star 1-1 clearly says to you that there are 3 IFVs behind them and following them => they are behind them !! the friendly Bradley which you attacked is located in oposite direction and not following anything. And the X is not target mark :-) it is marking friendly unit equiped by EPLRS in order to prevent friendly fire (paradoxically). jeffyd123
Im gonna try this out mauser... I have noticed one thing about making missions; Its A LOT EASIER for the mission maker to make sense of the situation than it is for the pilot. In real life, a JTAC is guiding a pilot in, in the sim, that doesn't happen. It is very hard for a pilot to make sense of what is going down there when a test message pops up and he has to read it amongst having situational awareness and handling the plane. I made an un-released mission that I have tested in which audible JTAC instructions repeatably inform the pilots where to look for the enemy (its all on triggers and timers). Despite this, I have noticed that the pilots STILL have a hard time figuring out where to look. So even though I thought the message is getting across, I have found its important to really spell it out for the pilots. 1 i7 8700K @ 4.4Ghz, 16G 3200 RAM, Nvidia 1080Ti, T16000 HOTAS, TIR5, 75" DLP Monitor

So even though I thought the message is getting across, I have found its important to really spell it out for the pilots. I agree, but i belive that even (especially in real life!!!) in real life there is a lot of complicated situations and there is no advanced JTAC unit in some cases. Simply few soldiers need help and know probable lacation of enemy. Something like "norh in the tree line" thats all. Because enemy can change position and is hidden in trees - so pilot have do the work and locate exact position (or bomb all that tree line area). Pilot is still "just" a soldier but he is not "dumb puppet" he has to make some decisions and have to think. Pilots even have to think and making decisions within fraction of seconds. Text messages are definetely not ideal but as i mentioned i am not able to do voice overs. Yes testing is hard especially timming in my case. When pilot has limited time to do something because as a mission builder i know exact location of enemy so i dont need that much time. sgibson
@VoiceOvers: I'm wondering if you have considered using AT&Ts Text-To-Speech? http://www2.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php There are several voices available. @Realism: Mauser is right regading the absence of JTAC. In this video a reporter is flying in an F-15 a CAS. It starts to get interesting at 4:30min

coke23
Hi guys, is there anybody who fly this mission till the end. Any issues? Not till the end, but almost (I guess). I had to give up with the voice over version due to several DCS crashes I had once I got rid of the artillery site. I changed to the version without voices and I got to the part of the mission where you have to attack two columns of armoured vehicles. After that I had nothing to attack with, so I decided it was enough. I'll keep trying to end the mission soon. I want you to know that I'm enjoying very much your missions and that we are all expecting that you keep going on with new ones. Yoi were pretty close to the end if you mean armored colums after destroying enemy HQ. There are actualy 3 columns and after destroying 3rd one you are cleared to RTB

Mauser55
First post updated - voice over version repaired - no more crashes - crashes were caused by conflict between build in AFAC communication and "sound to" function ;-) Edited March 30, 2012 by Mauser55

I had same experience, disconnected after 20 minutes looping over the building with soldiers on top. There must be a glitch in your mission, or you want to put us asleep :)
