Jona33 Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Like this? Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
Reticuli Posted April 25, 2012 Author Posted April 25, 2012 (edited) Yeah, except it seemed to happen all of the sudden when the distance got to 5. I was picking targets off just fine and then they vanished as I drifted closer. What's causing that and why does it happen when you close to a certain distance? Is there some graphics rendering setting that my computer can't handle as it boosts to higher detail as you approach? If so, can I make it the same lower detail as it is beyond 5 out but make it at closer distances too? Mar Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Have you tried reinstalling? It's possible the LODs got screwed up somehow. From the shadows of war's past a demon of the air rises from the grave. "Onward to the land of kings—via the sky of aces!"
Reticuli Posted May 2, 2012 Author Posted May 2, 2012 I just installed it on this laptop, actually. Where are these LOD settings and is there any way to manually change them? If not I could reinstall. I was trying to dial everything way down to improve framerates and there was a CTD once when doing that. Perhaps that caused these LOD setting to become broken. Reticuli Posted May 6, 2012 Author Posted May 6, 2012 (edited) Same thing. And I left everything at default without changing a thing after the fresh install. I even installed in the C directory outside of Programs (x86). The only difference is stuff starts disappearing at around 3km now instead of 5. Mar Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Unfortunately nothing I can do to help then. From the shadows of war's past a demon of the air rises from the grave. "Onward to the land of kings—via the sky of aces!"
Reticuli Posted May 9, 2012 Author Posted May 9, 2012 It happens at about 2.65km from a target at an altitude of 1000 when I have everything set to low. Anyone know what values or LOD or something might be responsible? Reticuli Posted August 30, 2012 Author Posted August 30, 2012 I think it's this fake "haze" that's used that comes in the form of water and terrain overlaid on top of the objects in the shkval. Intel integrated graphics don't seem to communicate properly with DCS stuff on how to do the transparency. So eventually either the water, the terrain, or both completely cover the objects. Chippy Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Oh thank god i'm not alone! I've had this since I got BS1, and it happens on A-10 too. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
MadDog-IC Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Objects disappear. They were there. Then they're gone. Is there some config setting that I might need to change? Had same issues before, I was fiddling with graphics.cfg and terrain high/med/low files to up FPS, I was just learning what each thing did, but some setting made it so that targets were not visible at all. I just reset the files back to the games defaults and problem solved. I hope that might help ya Cheers, Ian. Baal1606687932 Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Hello I've found a solution that does not involve module reinstallation. Clipping range for shkval display is governed by the MFD_render_params structure in Config\graphics.cfg file. Just change second_pass_far_clip and single_pass_near_clip fields to 0.1 and everything will be rendered correctly.
