I am pleased about Combined Arms, and I look forward to giving Eagle Dynamics some of my money, for the first time ever. That said, I do have a question or two.

When commanding AI units in CA, I see that it is possible to create routes for the units consisting of waypoints or road movement etc.. Do the units immediately move along their assigned routes, or can they be made to wait until the player instructs them to proceed? I have created quite a few platoon to battalion level scenarios in ArmA2:OA, and any sort of control of units that did not involve a mad clickfest required me to create custom menus with this function. It is to be hoped that it is in by default in Combined Arms, as detailed planning becomes a lot easier with such a feature.

Also, I have looked at the screenshots for CA, and I have noted that on the maps, vehicles are represented by an icon. Is there an option to use NATO standard symbology?

Thanks reading this far, and I look forward to playing Combined Arms.

A 'pause' feature would be great, just like Combat Mission.

If you're not familiar with it, you can assign a unit a series of way points (path) but click a 'pause' button and the unit will hold its position until the pause button is depressed. Very convenient for organizing large attacks.

In fact, I would say that it would probably be beneficial for DCS to look into the Combat Mission system when working on their ground game. Combat Mission has a great set of ground commands.

"NATO standard symbology" as the one you can change within the options, already in the DCS series? If I have to guess, isn't that the one you're looking at?

Ref for which screenshot please - perhaps I'm providing wrong intel.

As for pausing at waypoints - I can't say. I think it's possible to do within the Mission Editor. As for live commands, we can't say yet.

Within the Mission Editor (ME) you can Hold units at waypoints indefinately, for a fixed time period or wait for a specific event to take place (i.e. triggered by an event by setting a flag). Also within the ME you can hold and restart units at ANY point along their waypoint path meaning that you are not restricted to just waypoints to carry out such orders.

All of the above is currently easily done by single players and multiplayer hosts using the F10 radio menu. As long as the mission builder has constructed the functionality within the ME trigger system. CA should be no different in this functionality but whether it will be icon or F10 menu based I am not aware.

All in good time. I'm a land warfare gamer. When Combined Arms appears, I will shell out! :)

The NATO symbology appears in the mission editor, I know. However, I am referring to the in-game map, which is mapped by default to F10, if I recall correctly. If NATO (or Russian) symbols can be used there, I certainly don't know how to see them.

Thanks everyone for the responses, it is a very helpful community here.
