MP Flaps Bug

Recommended Posts

First off, awesome patch! Smooth netcode...

I concur about the flaps issue. In multiplayer, you can see your own plane's flaps in the up position, intermediate and down position. All clients (or host plane, if you're joining a server as client) either show flaps up (when up), down all the way (when combat) and down all the way (when down). There is no "combat flaps" seen from outside views for other players in the game, although that pilot definitely uses combat flaps.

Not a big deal, but a little bug that wasn't in the game before.

Haven't tested other planes, but the "unmodded" version of FC 1.11 had the same flap "bug" with the F-15's (before applying our Falcon mod). IDK about other airplanes, but I'll check it out tomorrow.

Ok, I'll talk with our programmer. Thanks for the info.

Thanks Han! "You da man"!!

If we find anything else related to formation flying we'll let you know for sure, since we spend so much time in close formation and usually pick up things most combat fliers don't see regarding mulitplayer. 1.11 looks real good though, so far! :D

  • ED Team

This was fixed a day ago. F-15C finally loosed it's mid flaps position as having not it in the reality. Same for Su-33. ;)

Are you saying the intermediate flap setting has been removed completely for the F-15C? That there's only full UP or full DOWN now?

yap :)

As real as it gets © :)

Bug which was allow to set flaps on Su-27 to middle was fixed too.

Now only A-10, Su-25 and Su-25T have three flaps positions.

All planes flaps are now correctly for MP plane.

Also take off and landing MP shaking for SFM was fixed too.

So all requests of VBA and VTB was fixed.

With Best Regards!

Thanks for the quick info Han! I cannot argue with the fact that what you guys are doing is good and correct, but unfortunately it means we'll have to "re-write" our parameters for flight since we rely on combat flaps in our show program. I certainly appreciate the rapid response and fix(es) you make though (including the "takeoff bug"! Does that mean padlock will work while on the ground as well?).

Any word on the Su-27 flaperons. On the AI Su-27s, 30s, 34s they move to the correct RL position but the player Su-27 flaperons deploy too far down. I have only ever seen the flaperons move down that far when the fighter is shut down engines off.

We very much appreciate your fast response to the "Can't see the half flaps position with multiplayer F-15's" request, and for fixing the MP takeoff shake for the SFM. Thank you so much!

We also understand your desire to make the simulator as realistic as possible, hence the fix you have implemented to get rid of the half flaps position on the F-15.

However, many of us spend much more time than our wives would like flying modifications to the original game such as the Virtual Blue Angels and the Virtual Thunderbirds mods.

As you know, the Virtual Blue Angels use the F-15 flight model and cockpit with the F-18 geometry model and skin to fly our airshows (see the screenshots I posted a few weeks ago in the screenshots section of the Lockon.ru site). The F-18 does have a half flap position.

We use half flaps for 2 reasons:

1) The real Blue Angels use half flaps during their airshows

2) When the flaps are fully up, the F-15 flight model in Lock On creates pitch oscillations which are extremely difficult to trim out even in level flight during tight formations. The half flap setting goes a long way to reduce these oscillations. (I believe this characteristic has been the subject of multiple threads in the Ubisoft Lock On forums over the last 2 years).

Our original request was to be able to see the half flaps position on multiplayer F-15/F-18 aircraft just like we could in all the previous versions until patch 1.11, rather than remove the ability to select half flaps at all.

We would be most grateful if you could reconsider your decision, and reinstate the half flaps position for the F-15 (and make it visible on the multiplayer aircraft as it was before patch 1.11). Your customers who desire maximum reality with the F-15 could still select either full flaps or flaps up (bypassing the half flap position by using "Shift-F" or "Ctrl_F" respectively). The aerobatic teams who need the half flaps position for F-18's and F-16's would also be able to continue to use Lock On as their simulator of choice.

Please see this thread comparing the real Blue Angels at half flaps, and the VBA's Jets 1, 2, and 4 with the half flap setting selected, but with the 1.11 patch showing them at full flaps:

Thanks in advance for your consideration of our request.

Sorry.

We're modelling flyable F-15 in LockOn, not F-18 or F-16. So flaps control on F-15 in LockOn will be as on real F-15, not as for F-18 or B-52 ;)

If oncetime we will modelling the flyable F-18 than we will make the flaps control as for F-18.

I'm hope on your understanding of this situation.

"Black Shark" project will be more "friendly" for the third-party mods.

Best regards.

No, padlock is hardcoded issueand can't be fixed now.

May be in 1.2.

Any ETA on then we can expect a download? Is this another temp "fix" or actually patch 1.12 that will have the F-15 flaps & takeoff "shake" corrected?
