No, this is actually a serious request.

Is it possible for ED to add a flashlight that can be used in the cockpit at night, and maybe follow the mouse around? Have it light up the panel where it is shining during electrical failure, or cold and dark start as you'd do IRL???

Best regards,

Tango.

That would be cool. Shining a Mag-lite on my monitor just hasn't been doing the job. :P

In real life the usage of the flashlight is the worst option that the pilot can do at night. Because if the pilot use any high lightsource (for example flashlight) it can be cause a temporary visual loss. Also without electricity the plane systems doesn't run most cases and most instruments are not working also. So the pilot have only one option = eject.

No, this is for like a cold, dark ramp start, like how this video begins:

Many (RAF) aircrew carry (NVG compatible) finger torches when flying for exactly the reasons listed above. http://www.fingerlight.com/nvg.html

Also it is often not desirable to use cockpit floodlighting (NV compatible or otherwise), and having a point source light allows pilots to use maps etc without having to light the entire cockpit.

Same for our A-10 pilots at Moody...

he-he-he ( evil laugh) . flash light is already exist in DCS modules but it is disabled' date=' cause it was maded for night debug[/quote']

:P

Well then - debug the flashlight and enable it!! :D

Regarding night acuity - that is what red filters are for. ;)

Best regards,

Tango.

Not really an issue these days, apart from T/O and landing NVGs will be in use much of the time anyway. And green light right in front of your eyeballs doesn't do much for your natural night vision.

DCS Flashlight:

Good idea.

But is there a way to go further, like a crew chief standing next to the pilot with the flashlight till Battery switched ON and then goes to do his checks.

(But need a crew chief mod with proper comms...)

Good joke

...but (IMO) RL pilots can do check/startup even blindfolded. But do that in DCS only by a mouse cursor is impossible, so those leds would be cool.

Hes going to lose night vision because of the pits lights anyway, it could be fatal if he pushes the wrong button and messes up the ramp start or breaks something.

You guys could add that to your L39C anyway but it would be nice if all aircraft had the flash light or you could go like Arma2 go to the ammo box grab the torch but don't forget the batterys lol.

Apache pilots are using a mic mounted lip light, activated by a capacitor switch with the upper lip or tongue on the back of the unit.

Fingertip mounted leds on the gloves work too.
