Active X problems

Recommended Posts

Hi, I posted this in the UBI forum but got no reply so hopefully someone here can help me. Just recently I’ve been having problems with streaming audio and video via Windows Media Player. It will say "connecting to media" then stutter between that, "connecting" and "ready" for a bit before settling at "ready". If I click the play button after this it just happens all over again. This started a while ago when I installed a new Catalyst driver. I was also having problems with Internet explorer but that was fixed when the newest Catalyst driver came out. So I decided to go and try to update my windows software but I cant due to an active X control error. I don’t understand what active X is and if it applies to windows media player in any way but I think this may possibly be the problem. I have gone into Tools/Internet Options/Security and all my active X controls are enabled but it still wont work. I’m just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so how the fixed it. And anther thing that is totally separate from active X is that whenever I try to go on a lomac server I can connect to the server, set my payload, and then after I click fly, I wait for the game to load up but I only ever get one of two scenarios. One is that I get the screen showing the debrief and nothing on the debrief (indicating that the server shut down when I was loading up) and this is possible but it happens almost every time so I don’t think that the server is actually shutting down. And the second scenario is that I get in my cockpit, start engines, and get in the air only to find that I am the only person on the server, so other humans or AI, just me. Its quite boring to fly around by myself so any help here would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks for the help in advance.

I just installed .Net but windows media still wont stream video. Im not sure what active X component is not working, i just get an error that says my "active X controls aren't working properly". Oh and yes i do have the latest version on direct X.

I have "accept all cookies" in the privacy tab, and i have "custom" set for all the options in the "security" tab. They are all custom because i went in and enabled all the acitve X components. But it looks like before i customized them they were all set to "medium-low" and i was still having active X problems when it was on that too.

Could it be with a antivirus like norton that has Active X filtering, causing it?

Can you send me a copy of your HijackThis log. This log will help me

diagnose the problem. To do so,

1. Download and run HijackThis. You may download it here:

http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/HijackThis.exe

2. Once you've saved the file to your Desktop, double-click on it.

3. Press Scan.

4. Once the scan is completed, press Save Log. Save the log to your

Desktop and send it to my email. Or post the content in here so we can all try to assist you.

We use this utility at work to identify malware, hijacks, trojan and so on.

You dont have to, but just trying to be helpfull...

Cheers
