Monitors on eBay for MFCDs

Hey all, I found these monitors on eBay for fairly cheap. Does anyone know if they can be used for the MFCDs? I know they are 8.4", but I'm making full size MFD bezels instead of using the Thrustmaster ones I have, so 8.4" would fit perfect. There's no shipping costs, so these would literally be the cheapest 8.4" lcds I've seen.

If I had to guess... mind you I am no expert in this matter, I would say no.

The reason being is that it does not have USB input or another similar format. It used VGA connectors. You would need to have a vga output on your computer. Most of the information I have read is that you need usb inputs to do most of the exports of the game.

However, again, I am not an expert on this subject. Only what little information I have read about this subject.

I won't swear I know what I am talking about but IIRC the USB monitors hurt framerates because the data has to go out to the GPU then back onto the system bus to get to the monitor. VGA is better as long as you set it up correctly.

PeterP is knows the ins and outs of this stuff very well. Here are a couple threads from his sig that relate.

EDIT: That does look like a good deal, btw. You don't need huge resolution so whatever they have will probably work.

If it's a VGA monitor you could use a VGA to DVI adapter. I can't see the ebay site cause the gov work computer.

8" Monitors and MFD buttons for sale

Hi,

I am about to put two 8", flat fronted VGA monitors (800x600) for sale on ebay with two Thrustmaster MFD cougar button panel things.

I'd be much happier to see them go to a DCS user as the are perfect for setting up the MFCDs or as part of a serious cockpit build project.

Does anyone know of a good classifieds page or forum for Sim hardware?

Thanks,

Jon

I have 2 USB monitors I use for MFD's ...not really a performance hit at all . The only caveat being is they will not play nice with Nvidia surround ...but then again neither would these as it would require a third graphics card ( would still need 2 cards even if using a GTX680) or one of the 6 monitor eyefinity cards from ATI...
