Possibility of new maps

Recommended Posts

What is the possibility that we could get new maps for new theater of operations in Lock-on?

An India/Pakistan map perhaps... some fight about Kashmir..

Or some other hot area.

Please don't tell me that you have no intention of supplying more maps for Lock-on... this game should be allowed to grow :D

Its been discussed at great length before ... there are 1000's of hours of time invensted in the maps/terrain. New maps = more time ... that means less time on something else, AFM for everything, more detail terrain of the current area, little people running around, A2G radar modelling etc (the list is endless)... When you are up there flying around, does really matter where you are .... just that there are plenty of things to blow up/fly under/over etc.

In a world with unlimited development budgets it would be great to have it all ...

Are we really getting any of that before Lock-on dies?

well ED could release a landscape editor to the community and tell us which scenario they want, so we can build it..........afterwards they test it and decide wether to use or to kill it
Yep.

Were certainly getting it before more map I hope :icon_excl

Probably LO-2 will use the same maps, models etc. and add better AI and new flyables.

We will get 1.2 in 2006 and I am sure a 1.3 in 2007, 1.4 in 2008 ... that would make much more $$$ sense to ED.

I hope so too... but releasing a map editor to the public would not hurt the game or delay other projects unless they will have to make such an editor from scratch :(

Im surprised that so many people here seemingly with so much free time on their hands (not me though:biggrin: ) had not a formed a MODDING community such as F4 yet...there are half a dozen finished maps ou there for this game already.

Anyone seriously interested to get new maps and has the free time should grab those utilities and make themselves.

Some map editing tools created by the community are already available. Anyone who is interested to seriously work on the map should send me or Alfa a private message (PM). Everybody else should stop asking ED for these imaginary "tools".

-SK

What kind of skills and software do you need for that?

And what "imaginary tools"?
