monotwix
I thought it looked like an aircraft until the submarine commanders took over, You fly it and do the ground baiting. Skoshi Tiger
I bought my first HOTAS (game port CH Fighter stick and Throttle) to fly the Harrier in the old Janes Marine Fighters sim. Got to hide my AV8B on a roof top that same day in a Multi-player game against my friend! :) I guess I'll be picking up the Harrier on release! Keep up the good work guys! Lucas_From_Hell
Technically speaking, the less time they spend here, the more they work in theory. I'll go by that :)
Prowler111
The Harrier has not been shelved, it has been moved in the development scheduled.Everything has changed in DCS code wise so we have to adapt if we want to release a top notch product. Like i once said, putting pretty meshes in DCS is relatively easy, making them work properly is a huge task, the learning curve is steep...very steep, and the Harrier is by no means, an easy aircraft to replicate. Please be patience.. otto
Prowler take all the time you need. I belive our comunity wants nothing short of top notch simulators. So why rush things ? Therewere a few persons that belived the huey project was dead and look how that turned out :P. Edited May 14, 2013 by otto
Lucas_From_Hell
Ex Harrier bloke (GR7/9) here, just getting back into these sims. A Harrier would be mega for this sim, even if its not a GR! Consider it sold! They're developing a GR.9 for DCS, to be released shortly after the AV-8B :) Maybe you can help them with a professional opinion later into testing? :D says WHO again?.. The GR9 is scheduled for a December release (FSX version) and the DCS version will be out once we put the AV-8B in there. The Harrier currently is 3rd in our DCS development lineup, 1st is the T-2 and 2nd is a project that we´ll unveil when time comes. robmlufc
They're developing a GR.9 for DCS, to be released shortly after the AV-8B :) Maybe you can help them with a professional opinion later into testing? :D Haha, I have just had a look at some videos of the FSX version, it looks like they have got it pretty much spot on! A few points, it might just have been the video I watched or FSX limitations or AV8B specific. You should be able to disengage NWS, anti-skid and NWS won't work at the same time. You should be able to start the engine without firing the APU gen up first. Flaps need to be reset before they even think about working. It doesn't look like water flow and IGVs are modeled? Most of that is just being picky! I'm tempted to dig FSX out and give it a go, I miss the old carbon fibre death provider!
Lucas_From_Hell
Most of that is just being picky! Nah, thank you for that! This degree of picky input is exactly why DCS is so amazingly realistic, so it is forever welcome :D
joey45
Some of that is probably FSX limitations.. I'm also tempted to find my FSX discs aswel. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. arteedecco
I started out in DCS at A-10C, never having flown the KA-50. During that Spring Sale, I bought all the modules including BS2 and have finally gutted up to learning the thing. I really love the startup sequences of A-10C and KA-50... getting all the systems ready and operating, engines whirring, etc. It has been really neat to learn the new airframe and how to actually land / takeoff vertically. I even managed to have a really nice approach and landing to a FARP recently. Yes, yes I know... try the UH-1... someday (need rudders first dangit!). Anyhow... point is... A multirole and VTOL aircraft such as the Harrier with modern avionics pretty much would kick complete butt. I'm getting more and more stoked for this particular aircraft by the day! Can't wait! Lucas_From_Hell
Just to confirm, the RAF Harriers are not AAMRAM/ALARM certified, are they? So, advanced NATO mixed USMC & RAF/RN deployment. The AV-8Bs+ perform SEAD, CAP and Escort duties while the GR.9s go in and do the dirty job. UH-1H two-ship on stand-by for CSAR. Would that be realistic enough for a nice MP session? :D
