0utLAW
Thanks for the comments guys. I'm really proud of the work that has been done so far. In the final stretch. I just have to pick up a 7/16" punch to cut the film and drill the holes in the acrylic for the switches. Also, I have to make some holes in the side of the boxes to run the USB and LED wiring. I have lined the outside of the panels with a bit of gaffers tape. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaffer_tape) This helps seal the film to the acrylic and block out the light. Not sure I want to mount these with the hinges. Thinking of alternatives. For now, here are some pics of the panels and the mounted GP-Wiz40 Max boards. I used a couple of the those plastic zip-tie mounts and some motherboard mounts and hot glued them to the box. Please excuse the light projected on the wall behind. That's because I haven't run the wires out the side of the box. They are just hanging over the box. i7-8700k 3.70mhz|64GB DDR4 G.SKILL Ripjaw V 3200|ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 2080 8G GDDR6|AsRockZ390 Extreme4|2 Samsung 870QVO 1TB, 1 Samsung 860 QVO 1TB, 1 Samsung 860EVO 500GB|Corsair 750D|Corsair H-100i|Corsair AX750|LG 34GN850-B|Acer UT241Y|TM Cougar MFDs| Buddyfox UFC|TM Warthog HOTAS(Modified Spring/Slew Control Stick, Upgraded PCB, Stick Extension)|Saitek Combat Pedals|Corsair Nightsword|Corsair K70|TrackIR5|Custom A-10C Panels|

Duckling
OutLAW, those panels looks great. Wish they'd been around when I started my 'jorney. Found something like'em years back for the Viper but yours are unique as far I know and a great way to start. - - - -

Mr_Burns
Here is a shot of the panels laying on the light boxes. I'm going to pick up a 7/16" punch to cut a hole in the film and then I'm going to drill the holes in the acrylic to mount the switches. I need to paint the sides and trim the bottom. I'm also planing on mounting the panels with hinges so I can get access to the inside and make adjustments if needed. The pictures don't do this justice. THIS THING IS TURNING OUT AWESOME! What does the community think of buying somthing like this, 4 rolls of acrylic type panel surfaces and then you could make panels how you liked? Self adhesive, dont want a working pit you just stick them on. Want a backlit ACHP you stick the panel surface on a piece of white acrylic, drill holes for "common" switches and wire up... Seems to make panel building with the guides from Tigershark almost professionally available to everyone for an affordable cost?
Lobinjaevel
I think it would be a great idea, especially if there was a number of different aircraft layouts, FA 18, UH1 etc. Cheap, backlit and modular!
Puma
Nice effect. I tried that approach in my prototype phase, but after a $550 screen printed panel I found it didn't block light. Worst fail of my pit! That looks good though. How thick is that acrylic? Too thick will be hard to work with and many switches and buttons have a maximum thickness material they can be panel mounted into. Also expect the bulk of wire to add up quickly so be aware your backlight may get blocked. If so then no interest on my part. IMHO the hardest part is actually getting some room for pit framework. When one has that room might as well go all the way.but I guess there can be several opinions on this, some here seemed to like even a quick cardboard solution for a pit. Anton. My pit build thread . Mr_Burns
I was thinking that these were flexible, like laminated paper and you would glue them to your choice of backboard and add switches as desired. I didn't know about screen printing or the cost.
0utLAW
Looking to redo/upgrade my consoles since I now have the Thrustmaster Warthog. I'm looking for just some basic outlines of the base plate(what the toggle switches screw on to) and the hole sizes and location for the faceplates(the top most plate you see). I'm just looking for outlines of the hole locations. I plan on printing them on clear stick paper to place on acrylic to use as a template. I have some files but the entire area is filled in in black. I'd like to conserve a little ink. i7-8700k 3.70mhz|64GB DDR4 G.SKILL Ripjaw V 3200|ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 2080 8G GDDR6|AsRockZ390 Extreme4|2 Samsung 870QVO 1TB, 1 Samsung 860 QVO 1TB, 1 Samsung 860EVO 500GB|Corsair 750D|Corsair H-100i|Corsair AX750|LG 34GN850-B|Acer UT241Y|TM Cougar MFDs| Buddyfox UFC|TM Warthog HOTAS(Modified Spring/Slew Control Stick, Upgraded PCB, Stick Extension)|Saitek Combat Pedals|Corsair Nightsword|Corsair K70|TrackIR5|Custom A-10C Panels|

0utLAW
Also, I know I'll want to add rotaries and digital displays for for the counter measures and radio type panels. I have a very basic under standing of electronics and 0 programming skills(I'm not a fan of looking at lines of code). I'm interested to see what easy-to-use low-cost options are available. I have been interested in working with arduino's but again, code. I know being able to control the displays will require some level of coding and I'd like to ask for help with that when I get to that point. I think I have all of my toggle switchs covered with the 3 GrooveyGameGaear boards and now all that is left are the rotaries and the displays. i7-8700k 3.70mhz|64GB DDR4 G.SKILL Ripjaw V 3200|ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 2080 8G GDDR6|AsRockZ390 Extreme4|2 Samsung 870QVO 1TB, 1 Samsung 860 QVO 1TB, 1 Samsung 860EVO 500GB|Corsair 750D|Corsair H-100i|Corsair AX750|LG 34GN850-B|Acer UT241Y|TM Cougar MFDs| Buddyfox UFC|TM Warthog HOTAS(Modified Spring/Slew Control Stick, Upgraded PCB, Stick Extension)|Saitek Combat Pedals|Corsair Nightsword|Corsair K70|TrackIR5|Custom A-10C Panels|
agrasyuk
Instead of separate posts consider using the edit post feature and ammend any additiinal info.. This way you will seriously cut down on scrolling and flipping pages. Was it dimebug who released drawibgs with just the basic outlines? I cant find those posts from mobile. But in any case, The very best option as far as files is to invest some time into learning how to draw these , either in CorelDraw or better yet in autocad (as it was mentioned in nearby thread student license is free). Dimebug has some panels missing from his set and if you want them you will need to draw them. As far as interfacing I believe you already seen DCS BIOS solution. I dont think it can be beat as far as versatility (and price) at the moment. Yes you will not get a ready solution, and as much as you don’t like to you will need to code stuff. But Ian bothered to make good tutorial and documentation for it. And again it will be very good time investment whether you going for all out serious pit or just some panels. Good luck Anton. weeb
Your absolutely spot on here Anton. Make it simple I have Dimebug's plans and so long as I'm not interfering with Dimebugs Intellectual Property, pm me and I will send them. I have 150MB pipe here. Cudos to Dimebug spot on, I am however redoing them to take in the wider rail Windows 7 64 Home Premium, i5 3570K (3.4 @ 4.4GHz), Asus P8Z77-V LX, 16GB dual channel 1600 ram, EVGA Nvidia GTX980ti, 240 GB OCZ SSD, 3 TB Raptor, Thrustmaster Warthog Hotas and Throttle, Saitek Pro Combat Rudder pedals.
