I am not sure but do you use 3dsmax or another software ? its about "material editor", the panel what configure diffuse, normalmap , specular levels etc etc ..

 

the name is "material editor" on 3dsmax, but I dont know for others if its the case.

LeVicieux, welcome to DCS! I hope my answer helps.

 

3dmax is used to create the wire-frame template. Or, a broken down 2D version of the model. It's also used to assign the material types as you mentioned including values.

 

However, to artistically add colors, bump maps, etc has to be done in a graphic program such as photoshop. I'm pretty certain he uses it to create his liveries. The program is also used to edited RGB values to create specular map textures.

 

nVidia also has a plug-in for photoshop to make Normal (bump) Maps.

Hi beczl, about "material editor" panel for your skins, do you use your own settings or you use vanilla settings ?

I think too many skins is not so good, if everyone online choses different skin, it means lot more high/res textures need to be loaded into vRAM and it might affect performance (talking online - offline I can make all skins to be the same)

materials, i dont see much in the way of any dynamic materials on this plane. i think it looks dissapointing for 2012/13 and especially alongside the p51. really want to see something special thats all, in terms of its looks.

It has a dynamic materials same typa as P-51 has. It's only a modelviewer preview that doens't show too much bro.

Not with this skin. All other non unique skin has a dynamic bort-numbers as well.

good info. i asked you this in a pm sometime ago which led me to believe it wasnt going to be so dynamic in appearance. .cant wait to paint a shinney one !:)

What might be kinda cool with the new Nevada map coming. There was a USAF squadron call the red hat squadron 4477. I'm not sure what type of mig-21 your making and whether or not its even close to the model that they used. There are pictures all over the net of some of the Russian jets used by the red hat squadron. Anyway it might be cool have one dressed up in those schemes.

With the new model, creating more elaborate styled skins will be easier. Such as that Red and White checker one :D Even those IAF ones.

Hello Sir, I am a very big Fan of Mig-21 coz i am from Air Force background. I have tried to install your mod using modman, but i could not find the aircraft in FC2 for flying. where have i gone wrong. Pls advise.

Hi, i think you may get a better response in the regular section. FC2's MiG-21Bis was before I joined the team. This thread is for updates on the 3D model. :)
