(or flight manual) Last symbol... You have: SCALE: ENROUTE, TERMINAL, APPROACH, HIGH ACC, none STEER TO FROM, DIRECT, TO TO, none VNAV 2D, 3D, none VANGLE COMPUTED, ENTERED ANGLE I assume they affect HUD symbology.... but if anyone could save me several hours of testing my assumptions it would be very much appreciated. What are they for? What affect do they have? How are they used to recreate real world flight plans? CDU / NAV / attributes sub-page; Page 225 onwards. Grimes Posted October 12, 2012 Share Posted October 12, 2012 All I know is its a feature limited to the A-10C much like how PVI points are only available to Ka-50s, and it changes how the CDU stores each waypoint. Someone who knows the A-10C avionics better than I might be able to help. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. So the attitude of localizer for steerpoint would be changed according to the settings. For example (Im not explaining how they use in IRL) Deadly accurate waypoint set for runway Approach VNAV 3D ENTERED Angle -2.5 With correct HSI heading set for runway It is hard for me to explain with my poor English skill however with the settings above, localizer acts much more like ILS HUD indicator of Russian planes in FC2 (MIG29, SU27, SU33 and SU25T). You dont need to think about anything but just keep the localizer "+" center, you'd be on track on the runway with -2.5 degree glide slope, without ILS or any other visual device like HUD. If you wish, you would be able to land on runway in dense FOG environment without ILS.(way easier than ILS imo) Above is just one example. Some might use the features for ingress phase of strategic bombing or for just turning point but again, I have no clue what they(Pilot in IRL) usually use it for. The Scale effectively gives different options for the accuracy of the cues for flight plan deviation. I haven't read the Steer section yet..
