DCS World Install Starting Again - Help

Recommended Posts

DCS have now merged 2 accounts that I was using to buy software and I am now ready to install DCS world and perhaps buy combined arms but I have some questions !

Currently I have BS1, BS2, A10C and flaming cliffs 2 on my PC (note BS and A10C were bought on my merged account as digital download - In addition flaming cliffs 2 was bought on one of my merged accounts but for some reason a record is not appearing of this purchase on my single unified DCS account?!?).

I want to install DCS world and add all the DCS games I own + perhaps buy combined arms - please could someone talk me through what to do next step by step in order to do this?

1)Do I need to delete all the DCS games on my system and start the install again?

2)For flaming cliffs 2 what do I need to do - I presume it has to appear on my account for me to be able to install it under DCS world?

FC2 is not a DCS product.

You will see it by login in at the FC2 website.

1) no - deleting is not necessary.

2) wait for FC3 and purchase it or not. FC3 will be integrated in DCS WORLD

Installation tips:

Download and install DCS world1.2.1 and the Modules for 1.2.1 you own.

Keep a special eye which BS2 version you need (upgrade or Stand alone)

and run DCS World 1.2.1 after installation once and let it do a update.

After this successfully update install your modules.

Many thanks for the help have found the flaming cliffs 2 in my account - and believe you need to keep it installed to successfully activate flaming cliffs 3 when it is released which I thought was last month?

However am slightly confused about why I would keep all the standalone version of A10, BS 1 and BS2 installed on my machine prior to installing DCS world - I thought they should be deleted prior to installing DCS world to avoid wasting disk space as the games/modules then need to be installed again - or can you integrate the standalone games into DCS world - please clarify?

You can delete them at your will.. However, I would honestly wait until after you have installed World. When you are installing the modules, they will search for any previously installed/activated software and automatically activate depending on the findings. It can save you some headache, especially with BS2 upgrade. For BS2 you must have BS1 installed and activated prior to the install. I am assuming that FC3 will be the same. You will either need LOMAC installed and activated, or a previous version.

The standalone versions themselves can not go into world, only the cd key is transferred. World does not bother the standalone versions and can be installed in parallel with them.

BigfootMSR thanks

The reaons I was keen to uninstall them was purely to free up some space on my SSD main drive © - to clarify

1)You think it is worth keeping the standalone installs because DCS world might reference them in the install and update process - do you mean after this they can be deleted as DCS world installs its own module for each game?

2)If I run into disk space issues on my C drive can I install DCS world on my D drive - will the program still detect DCS installs on my C drive - or do I really need to install DCS world back onto my main C drive?

3)Does anyone have a date when Flaming Cliffs 3 will be released?

1.) yes, you can delete them after you have world installed if you need to free up some disk space.

2.)You can install World to your D drive and it will still detect the modules just fine. It just wont run as fast such as load times being on the standard drive. There are a few known issues with SSDs that may pop up. There are solutions posted on the forums.

3.) A release date has not been announced. It was delayed for quality purposes.

I think I am having the same issue.

I have versions on DCS Black Shark and A-10 already installed on my computer as well as Lock On Flaming Cliffs 2. These were installed on my computer prior to the release of DCS World.

How can I apply these already purchased DCS applications to the DCS World application? I have DCS World installed but it does not automatically detect any content on my PC.

Or would I be required to purchase them again in order to apply them to the DCS World Suite?

***Please note: DCS Black Shark and Lock On Flaming Cliffs 2 were bought directly from Eagle Dynamics online store in the past. The version of DCS A-10 I have was bought and downloaded through Steam. Don't know if the Steam issue would affect this as well for A-10C content.

Just download the modules from here http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=136&scr=products&lang=en and install them. The installer should auto detect if you have the game installed and activated on your system. If it does not recognize them for some reason, you can use your cd key that you have with the game for whatever module you are installing.

Only Black shark 2 can be installed into world. If you only have the original, you will need to purchase the upgrade first.

FC2 will not be a module in World, only FC3 will be when its released, but it will require LOMAC or a previous version installed. You can read about it here http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=93633

Ok cool, it seemed to work okay with A-10C even though it was bought through Steam.

And if I understood correctly what was mentioned in the thread, I can delete the DCS A-10C stand-alone game in Steam or any other stand-alone products once they are activated in DCS: World, since the World application should already contain all the assets needed to run those products?

Thanks for all your help on this!

1)Just want to double check before I try and install - if I download and install DCS world on my D drive it should theoretically detect the games I have installed on my main C drive (SSD)?

2)Also will I then need to install all my modules to the D drive also or can I install some of them to the C?

No, all modules are installed in your DCS World directory..

however modules (ie BS2, A10c, P51) are only about 350MB in size, as the bulk of the assetts are now stored in DCS:World and are shared between all modules.

DCS:World + Modules does not rely on any of the stand alone products,, so they can be removed..

The one exception to this is needing an activated BS1 + upgrade key to be able to install the BS2 Upgrade version (as opposed to BS2 "full")..they are both exactly the same end result, just different starforce product leys that allowed ED to sell the Upgrade at a reduced cost (for BS1 owners).

..annoyingly, the same will apply for FC3, which will need LOMAC 1.2 (FC1) installed ....so retarded, but there you go...

Thank I am making progress as have just installed world and A10 module- however not sure what to do with Black Shark (I already have BS and BS 2 stand alone on my SSD - non DCS world versions)

Do I need to install the full or update module for BS2 into my DCS World?(below is the link I am downloading from)

You are on the right track. Download the Correct BS2 module and install it just like you did with the a10 module. If you bought the upgrade version of BS2, then you NEED the BS2 upgrade module. If you bought the full BS2 Version then you need the non upgrade module.
