Recommended Posts

Okay I have now flown this tutorial at least 10 times before Posting here because Im struggling.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25MgpCEe114&feature=autoplay&list=ULV1IoF2xKBCI&playnext=1

Is there something wrong with this tutorial?

I have exactly the same on my screen as the author except my maverick does NOT fire but instead drops all the way down the range bar without locking on.

If you look at 3.45 on vid number 3 (above) thats exactly what I have on my screen as well. Im wondering since that vid was recorded during Beta test , that the final stage is not correct ? (from 3.45 onward)

Are you pressing TMS up to lock the target? You have to keep trying until you can get a lock.

Have you warmed up and selected maverick in the DSMS?

Click "Go advanced" below the Quick Reply box, then find the paperclip icon. This will open the attachement upload interface.

Hey man, just checked out your track.

Your problem is that you are trying to lock up a building. The mavericks you are using are AGM 65D which are IR guided. They require an target that exhibits an infra red signature to lock. To destroy buildings like that you are best to use force correlate mode on a TV guided Maverick, but that is something you can learn later.

Everything else looks good though, so try again with a target such as a tank and you will be good to go.

Cheers

Try reading page 571 of the A-10C manual.

To use the Maverick in force correlate mode:

1. Place the Boat Switch in the center position.

2. Slew the tracking gate near the intended target.

3. Ground stabilize the Maverick by pressing TMS Aft Short.

4. Slew the tracking gate over the target and the tracking gate will fully collapse. The Pointing Cross will go steady.

5. You can now launch the Maverick by holding down the weapon release button.

So this is for attacking a particular part of a building such as a window using the AGM65K/H and CATM65K/TGM65H. IMO what I do to hit tanks is lock the tgt up with the targetting pod then TMS up long to make it into an SPI then make sure you are about 5miles from the target at 4000ft or higher and just select the MAV page and push V for 3-4seconds and it will automatically slew to the tgt. Taping V once zooms in the Maverick view and then TMS up short locks the tgt and just shoot from there.

This is one of those issues with the Warthog manual. It does a really good job of explaining some topics but when it comes to actual weapons deployment it leaves out a lot of stuff, like for instance explaining what you would use the different Maverick types for. What exactly Force Correlate does.

This is stuff I only learned after reading about the real weapons online and seeing some tutorials.

Warning: Nothing I say is automatically correct, even if I think it is.
