DCS FC3 Questions & Answers Thread

Hello !

But, in LOMAC, there were UNIT and the quantity of aircraft in each unit.

Now, there is only UNIT, and when I choose 4, the 3 others aircrafts are far away.

I believe you're mixing two things. :book:

1/ groups & co

- in LOMAC, there were groups (and you could have different sub-groups in one group).

- in DCS, one group cannot have sub-groups AFAIK.

- in both LOMAC and DCS, you can have several units per group (or per sub-group for LOMAC).

2/ formation flying

- in DCS, the default formation flying is a wide formation. This is more realistic IMO than the default close formation from LOMAC. I think (but you have to check, I'm at work) that you can set what type of formation you want for one group in DCS (multiple options available).

- if you wanna do more or less the same as the old sub-group mechanism that existed in LOMAC, their is a new advanced task in DCS : "follow". Create your first group, make its flight plan. Then create your second group, no need for flight plan, just set it to follow the first group. Easy & options available = good IMO :)

Yeah Bob,i've had the same problem,i must have had 20 goes at this mission trying all sorts of different techniques but as you say it's pretty damn hard,i too once shot down all the migs and Su's but the F-15e's for some reason won't attack the runway and drop their ordnance, there is only one "push" command to give to the entire strike package,i'm wondering if there should be a second to tell the ground attackers to commence bombing the runway.

Anyway i can't seem to do it and if there is something we're both missing can somebody please tell as i want to continue the campaign.

Thanks Rob.

I was wondering, does anyone completed the campaign ?

I'm stuck on the "Escort OCA strikes on Nalchik" mission (FC3-F15C-05)

The monkeys flying the F-16s aren't doing their SEAD job, they only fire their mavericks and then fly back to base with their HARMs still hanging on their wings.

Then of course the F-15Es who are supposed to bomb the runway get shot down by the many SAMs remaining and...well that's it.

I did the mission 10 times and 10 times I had the same outcome...

I tried to shoot those cowards down, felt good but didn't solve the problem :(

No, your wingman won't come any closer. Check what Azrayen suggested

There should be a closer formation option, like an "Air Show Formation" where wingmen are closer to the player, it's just much better to be able to see all three wingmen closer than the way it is right now...

1. Will the FC3 F15 eventually have a clickable cockpit?

2. I am probably wrong but...The Contols template for the F15 seems to be for a Russian Jet, can we redo specifically for the F15 so we can have features like Toe-Brakes in the Axis?

Like Azrayen said :

1. Create a group

2. Make its flight plan

3. Create a second group

4. Click the Advanced (waypoint action) = 1

  • Click Add = 2
  • Select Follow = 3

follow1.jpg

  • Right click on the group you want to be followed = 4
  • Set the position of the following aircraft = 5
  • Choose if you want the aircraft to stop following when the first group reach a waypoint = 6

Hello !

About tight formation, why remove this possibility ?

To avoid planes crashing into each other when maneuvering. In combat, there is no reason to fly wingtip to wingtip. Everyone will just be in everyone else's way.

This is an improvement over LOMAC unless you're doing something like an airshow.

Couple of qu's please guys

Hi Guys,

How do i get the flight plan and waypoints on the f10 map? I find navigating around diff without the map.

Does anyone else find the ground objects & planes quite small in this game? I've been up in lots of planes and find the planes & ground objects easy to track n view. Also in games like ROF and the IL2 series the planes n ground objects r much easier to see. I went up in an RAF hawk a few years back & planes n ground stuff were much easier to see & track(realise the PC monitor issue but....)

Thanx

You can't see waypoints on the map.

Visibility depends heavily on screen resolution. At 1366 X 768 I couldn't do anything in visual combat. At 1980 X 1020 I find and engage enemy planes visually. At higher resolutions things become even better. PeterP has made a thread on this issue.

Also, there is a FC3 Q&A thread fro questions.

Yeah, BTW, since this thread will most likely be merged with the Q&A thread, would it be possible to bring it (Q&A thread) back to the general section ?

I think it got moved by mistake to the Bugs and Problems section

thx

EDIT : Thank you almighty moderator !

Don't you think you're pushing a lil bit Sheppard ?

Everyone here is willing to help but they will not hold your hand for every baby step. There's a search function, a 300+ pages manual and the ingame keybinding menu.

IIRC it's Ralt + space
