Johnnyp89 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Hello all, Despite my 2 week battle with DCS-a10's intense learning curve, I am starting to grasp the beginnings of being able to comprehend this game. I want the experience to be as realistic and seamless as possible, so I've decided I'll be purchasing a throttle+joystick and other Peripherals. Other than those two pieces of gear I found a "Premium Head Tracking" device which seems to be the coolest looking thing since steel battalion's 200 dollar crazy desktop controller. ---BELOW are LINKS to the ITEMS i've been looking to buy.--- Any advice or feedback on these expensive peripherals will be appreciated. #1) Stick&Throttle - - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00371R8P4/ref=s9_psimh_gw_p63_d0_i2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0D00V9HK9Z2YZHX5DNYT&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1389517282&pf_rd_i=507846 #2) Rudder Paddles - - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004ING996/ref=s9_psimh_gw_p147_d0_i3?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1QVKX1VDMGYKDA3MTVTW&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1389517282&pf_rd_i=507846 #3) HEAD MOVEMENT TRACKER - - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0029M6VKA/ref=s9_psimh_gw_p147_d0_i3?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=07SY35F1G5E4EY1Q2PT9&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1389517282&pf_rd_i=507846 Any help/advice/reviews/suggestions or alternate purchaces would help me out bundles!. Johnnyp89 Posted January 10, 2013 Author Posted January 10, 2013 Awesome thanks thats all i needed to hear ... i couldn't imagine how easy its going to be to set all my switches and look at my panels while actually in a combat setting without something that tracks your head movement.... cant wait until amazon has the TaS in stock, anyone know of a website currently selling besides ebay?
dburne Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Pretty much same setup as I have, except I have the Saitek Combat Pedals, rather than the Pro Pedals - don't know what the difference might be, the picture looks the same... You will be very happy with those periphs! Rubberduck Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 All good as everyone has said, these are the pedals that i use, very good, they lack the angle adjustment, but they are significantly cheaper, http://www.amazon.com/Saitek-Pro-Flight-Rudder-Pedals/dp/B000H67DDY/ref=pd_cp_e_0 just another option, HTH Best Regards Nigel AKA Rubberduck My Dad- Always check for paper before sitting down....:music_whistling: Win7 64bBit,Intel® Core i7x4-3820 (3.6GHz), ASUS® SABERTOOTH X79, INTEL CERTIFIED LIQUID COOLING 16GB DDR3 2400MHz, NVIDIA GeFORCE GTX 680 4GB, 240GB INTEL® 520 SERIES SSD, 2TB WD CAVIAR BLACK BLU-RAY ROM DRIVE, CORSAIR 750W ENTHUSIAST SERIES, AeroCool Touch 2000 LCD Touch Screen 4 Fan Controller Creative Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ Xtreme Audio, Hotas WH, Saitek Pro-Flight Pedals & Cougar MFD's
MTFDarkEagle Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Jep, go for it. I pondered between the saitek pro flight, and the saitek combat pedals. What convinced me: with the proflight your entire foot rests on the pedal, but with the combat pedals your heel is resting on the base, not the pedal. WynnTTr Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 The only downside to getting those items is that you're going to be playing with the best kit right off the bat.. and thus not going to really appreciate how good the equipment you're buying is ;) Believe me when I say that there's no other HOTAS on the market that's feels as precise or as sturdy and well made as the WH right out of the box. Everything other HOTAS that I've had over the years felt like a toy. The WH feels like it was ripped from the aircraft itself. I still remember the feeling of awe when I first unpacked it. Almost as good as the first time I finally "got" BS and could fly without crashing.
cichlidfan Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 (edited) cant wait until amazon has the TaS in stock, anyone know of a website currently selling besides ebay? Order from Amazon now, they won't charge you until it ships and they will email you when they have an shipping date giving you ample warning, and cancel the order if you find it elsewhere. I noticed the other day that New Egg had it discontinued. EDIT: Just found this, forget Amazon, though not available for a month, they appear to have a delivery date, and the price is pretty good. http://www.frys.com/product/6529383?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG EDIT2: Just noticed the shippig charges (for my zip, close to yours) $129...Amazon might be cheaper (unless there is a Frys handy), especially if you are a Prime member.
