What am I?

I am a Ka50 Black Shark.

 

I hug the ground, flying low and slow, bracing myself for the sound of a laser warning, or the flash of a missile launch, or the silhouette of an enemy vehicle. I am agoraphobic.

 

I spend every flying minute putting obstacles between myself and the enemy, whether that enemy is on the ground or in the air. I peek out from behind those obstacles just long enough for my weapons to do their job.

 

But what am I to you? How do you, the supersonic fighter jet, experience me?

Put plainly, I'm looking for some insight into how you FC3 players detect, respond and interact with us Ka50 pilots in multiplayer matches. Some screenshots or videos of radar displays would be particularly appreciated!

You are like a welcome surprise target in case I happen to see you,

but not my main concern while I fly high in my f-15 looking for preys or

giving cover to my buddies a-10s. So as long as you stay low not calling for too much attention,

you are a quite silent killer :) .

Like every other bad guy.

 

What tactics do you employ when you spot me, or fail to spot me?

When the opportunity is there and you're asking for it expect a missile inbound. Failing that a high speed gun pass from above. Don't expect me at your altitude and don't expect me to fly straight and level.

 

What is the thing I can do that most frustrates you?

Killing my comrades on the ground, while being a beacon to all around you.

If you're well hidden, flying low and slow then you'll go largely unnoticed. You do this I won't bother you, I may even give a cocky fly by, you fly stupid then i'll try and punish you.

 

What is the thing I can do that makes me the easiest target?

Fly high and fast letting vikhr trails off every minute and plenty of flares, also leave your lights on, thanks.

I tend to avoid Ka-50's, Su-25's, and A-10's because of the complaining I've seen when people are shot down by fighters. Some servers also used to have rules against engaging them.

 

I still find them every now and then and usually just lock on and try to scare them before going off somewhere else. The exception is when they're taking out my air defense.

 

To avoid being spotted, number one is jammers off, number two is staying away from the areas where fighters are usually present if you can help it.

 

If you do have a fighter coming after you either try to break the lock by slowing down and flying low if they seem far, or quickly darting to a favorable bit of terrain. Like Frostie said, I won't try engage attack aircraft level but instead dive on them at very high speed and make quick passes. I know some of them have self defense missiles, I don't want to deal with those.

If I spot you, I launch a radar missile at you.

If I don't spot you and you're not hurting my people, I usually ignore you. If you're a real threat, I'll go down to angels 10-15 and look around some hills to see if I can find your hiding spot.

Hide or fly slow. Slow defeats my radar (damn cheater! :P ). Hiding is just annoying... :D Note: I am very happy when a hiding helicopter tries to hide just above ground and kicks up so much dust I can see it from angels 20 and 20 miles away... :)

 

What is the thing I can do that makes me the easiest target?

Fly without terrain masking. If you do that in my sky, you're dead, pretty much. Alternatively kick up dust in a hover - I won't be able to use radar missiles on you at that point, but I'll have no trouble spotting you and doing a quick attack that you won't have seen coming.

Mask well, and I probably won't even know you're around.

I never actively look for you but if i snag you in vertical scan EOS, I will launch...

Usually find Ka50s in EOS so it'll be a r73 in your ear.

 

What is the thing I can do that most frustrates you?

use terrain masking in cities, narrow canyons and vector your CAP cover to me..... that and shooting s18 salvos and driving my frame rates into the ground.

Fly high, lights on, vikhr trails, bedabing badaboom.
