If you look at the download link, it takes you to the FSXDemo... which always has been freeware.

PS: Can't get FSX to run smooth (FPS is more then high enough but lot's of stutter, tried everything i could find but no joy) on Win 7 64-bit so i dumped it. Ran fine under XP 32-bit though. Shame i can't continue my journey. Have been thinking about X-Plane but then the X_Plane demo doesn't impress me at all so i'm still holding off.

With FSX it's all about graphics adapter performance. I had the same issues with an older ATI dual GPU adapter. As more complex the scenery, the more stutter. The problem disappeared completely when I changed to a GTX680. So I like to use FSX/ESP sometimes, because I can fly at my home base and I can modify my local scenery environment without any LUA crap. From the developers point of view there is a big advantage in FSX, because all tools and the simulation interface are well documented. To X-Plane I can say, it needs more performance than FSX in general. Whereby the functionality is almost the same. Compared to DCS, I have subjectively the better frame rate than in FSX. But this needs to have objective test with a comparable configuration. The main reason for using DCS is the system depth in the A10C. This is really amazing if you like serious flight operations.
