Hello

Please excuse me if I am an idiot and this has already been answered, but I've spent ages going through the forum and trying suggestions with no joy.

I had DCS A-10c on steam and was getting runtime errors that prevented it from loading. After reading other posts I uninstalled it, installed DCS world and the A-10c module (It's version 1.2.2). I didn't install the new visual CC (June 2010) as my version is newer so it would not let me (in another post on the forum somebody says "humor me and try installing the one linked to in my signiture, I tried this but again it wouldn't let me install it).

When I launch DCS world it works fine until I try to start any kind of mission (or training). When I do I get the little splash screen then the full screen picture of the warthog (or the other free plane, which I also tried and which also doesn't work). The loading bar at the bottom gets to about 3/4 complete, then I get a CTD and the message "DCS world has stopped responding and needs to close...".

After this the DCS world loading screen comes back up and loads but just returns me straight toi my desktop. I have tried running as administrator and have UACs turned off. I have not been asked to enter my CD key from steam at any point so far.

I get this error message in event viewer:

Faulting application name: dcs.exe, version: 1.2.2.7570, time stamp: 0x50ae8d54

I have tried downloading and reinstalling MSVCR100.dll but that didn't help.

I am running on Windows 8 32bit, 4GB RAM, Intel T6400 (2GHz Dual Core), Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT (1GB). I realiase that this is on the lower end of the system requirements but I have had this game running on this laptop in the past (on Vista), I seem to remember it being a real pain getting it to work then too).

I also read that the game can crash if not run in native resolution, so I am doing so.

I hope that this is enough information to help me out!

Thanks.

Hi,

your win8 32 bit is causing that problem. There was a trick for partially fixing the problem in win7, but I don't know if that works in Win8. The best solution is to install a 64bit OS.

Here's the fix for Win7 :

While I agree there is an issue with the Operating System version, this not entirely true. Windows 8 is a touch screen/tablet OS, and nothing more. Why everyone seems to think, "it is newer, it is better", is beyond me. The Simulator has not been tested and approved to run on Windows 8. Also, there is NO system requirement for this, "Must be on a 64 bit system" myth, that states that you have to have a 64 bit system. If you are required to have a 64 bit system, then they need to update their System Requirements, something awful.

Recommended system requirements: Operating system 64-bit: Windows Vista and 7; Processor: CPU: Core 2 Duo E8400, AMD Phenom X3 8750 or better; Memory: 4GB; Hard disk space: 7 GB; Video: Shader 3.0 or better; 896MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX260 DirectX 9.0c or better; Sound: DirectX 9.0c - compatible; DirectX: 9.0C; requires internet activation.

Minimum system requirements: Operating system: Windows XP, Vista or 7; Processor: Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz; Memory: 3 GB; Free hard disk space: 7 GB; Video: 512 MB RAM card, DirectX 9 - compatible; Sound: DirectX 9.0c - compatible; requires internet activation.

His problem is very clearly marked as a Visual C++ 2010 error( see bold in quote below ):

I get this error message in event viewer:

Maffers, try the information I have posted here. Make sure that you go through the list in order( skip the 64 bit ones ).

Start there, and then we'll see what pops up next.

Thanks to both of you! Bengo's fix got the game running (but with no sound) and Sven's suggestions got the sound working.

I'm guessing learning how to fly the damn thing is going to make getting the game running look like a piece of cake!

I still haven't been asked for my key though - is this normal? I could have just downloaded it for free...

it is if you have already entered they key in to the system once before and it still resides in the registry

Salvager,

is there any particular reason you need to run version 1.1.1.1 ?

If not, download and install DCS-World and A10 version 1.2.2 from this site. Your Steam-key should be good for use with DCS-World with A10C.

Also please post your system specs and what OS you are using.
