I'm planning my first cockpit and I'm a bit confused about multiple monitors and video cards. I'm planning for 3 x 27" monitors on a Gtx670 4gb card. According to the specs this card will handle up to four monitors. So far so good.

So the ports on the card are 2 x dual-channel DVI, 1 HDMI and 1 Display Port. So to do this with 1 card I'll have two of the monitors on the DVI ports and one on HDMI if I understand this right.

Are there any problems with that kind of config?

Would it be much better to go with two gtx670's?

Thanks in advance!

Are the 27s @1920x1200 or 2560x1440? If its the latter, I don't think that graphics card will handle the pixels needed for smooth play, but others may know better....? In fact, I'm not sure a card exists yet that will.....???

That's a good question as I haven't picked monitors yet.

So it sounds like the question is a bit more complicated. If the monitors are 2560x1440 the I will need two video cards for sure. Will a pair of gtx670s do?

Thanks!

Well if you wait get either the HD8000 series or the Geforce Titan. both say they will increase FPS a lot and suitable for more then 1 screen. Some off the record enchmark state that the Titan = GT690 and better

Neither the HD8000 nor the Titan are even released yet. I'm looking more for tried and true over bleeding edge.

Does anyone know if I can run two monitors over DVI-D and one over HDMI without issue?

Thanks!

Here you go.

However, IIRC, there are (were?) some issues with Nvidia surround and DCSW (do a forum search).

Yes I understand the ports as I outlined in my original post. 2 dvi-d, 1 HDMI, 1 Display Port.

I don't know if I can do three simultaneous monitors with 2 over dvi-d and one over HDMI.

Thanks!

Hmmm, according to the max resolution noted in the image, that card will not quite handle 3 2560 displays (without bezel correction). My math says it would need another 80 pixels. I wonder if that is a misprint.

@Charles -You should be able to use any three ports that you wish for your three monitors. Most of mine have HDMI and Display Ports as well as DVI but that will depend on the monitor you choose.

It is screen snippet from this tool on Nvidia support page (scroll down to the bottom of the page):

I took a quick look but I still think it might be a misprint.
